I wouldnt bother taking it outside if i were you. Electronics + Water = bad outcome. even if its ice, if it gets inside the motor heat will melt it

any metal at all coming through would give loads of traction i think. th problem would be finding something small enough.

I used to use thumb tacks on the inside of my tires facing out...worked incredibly well. If you could find some small thumbtacks or cut the heads smaller it would work well.

I wouldn't freak out about the waterproofing thing. Put some alcohol in a spray bottle and spray it down after each use and use a hair dryer to dry it. Soaking the car will ruin it but just ice racing should not be a problem. Let the arguments begin.

Here is what I have seen before on some tires I got with a trade I made for some tires and wheels a while ago, and it might just work for ice racing. Peel the tire off the wheel. Get about 6 or 7 small screws that were left over from when you unsrewed the body from the case it came in. drill the same amount of real small holes along the outside circumference of the tire (the part that makes contact with the floor or ground), then just thread the screws through the holes from the inside of the tires so the sharp end sticks out. You can cut the screws down to where you think might be long enough, but not interfere with the chassis or body. Looks like it might work.
