Default The Cheap Mods Thread

I thought I would make a thread for all that want cheap hop up mods, (like 6 cell) to further increase power, performance, etc....What I have so far:

-5,6,7 cell
-locked diff
-losing extra poundage
-short driveshaft on gen 1

What do yuo guys think? Try to keep the Evos from the Gen1s.

Well, I think one of the top ten cheap mods is learning to wind (pattern wind if you get good enough) your own motor. Performance gains are awesome, and its cheap, too. All you need is RS motor wire, which runs for around $6-$10...

OK thats fine! I am going to clean up this thread for you and get rid of all the irrelevant posts so you can keep it on topic.

one of the cheapest and most beneficial mods you can do is buy a heatshrink pack from RS (something like $2.39) and heatshrink your arial.
espescially on EVO's.
it will save alot of time and hassle replacing resistors for fried range.
accidents(and 3 yr olds) happen.

-Heat Shrink on arial
-5,6,7 cell
-Batteries upgrade

GEN 1:

-5,6,7 cell
-Batteries Upgrade
-Pattern Winding
-Drift tires
-Locked Differential
-Short Driveshaft
-Bic Driveshaft
-Lose Weight
-heatshrink on tie rod

Additions Welcome!

idk if i want to waste all my heatshink on my xmod antenna's. couldnt i use electrical tape? I have the pack of heatshrink bondo is talking about, but most of the small pieces you get with it are gone, and all i have left is the big pieces.

For gen1, you can heatshrink the ends of the posts of the tierod that go into the knuckle, to reduce steering play. MK2 made a tut on XMF..
Also, shaving the knuckles is another good mod...

I just thought I might use my new Civic as a test subject for a few of these mods.

sure, why not?
technically you could use a ziplok and a rubber band.
it doesnt really matter as long as one of the arials are insulated in some way.
all it takes is a slip of the memory when your bending over to replace the car on solid ground or dig it out from under the couch, touch the arials together and poof, fried range.

another cheap and effective mod is to dig through the drawers at rat shack and find the washers.
buy the multi pack for a couple bux and slip one behind each wheel to limit slop. espescially on the Xtruxks....
