I believe that cold heat iron is a p.o.s., radioshack sales another one that would work better than that one. I have a soldering iron that I got under $5 at Big Lots (Hobby House brand or something), it has worked just as good as the other irons that I have use. You probablly wont be able to find one, I havent seen another one since I purchased mine. You need a soldering iron with a fine (sharp) tip if you are going to be soldering gen.1 EP's, the one that I have has a flat tip and is not suitable for "intense" jobs such as that

This iron may be the best investment as far as RS irons go:http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search. Another thing you may want to go ahead and purchase would be a stand such as this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search

pick up some desoldering braid when you get an iron too, its really handy and easy to use. you should be able to find it in the same section that all the other soldering equipment is at RS. and if at all possible, buy a soldering iron that has adjustable settings, it gives you better control.
