or just make sure that the motor is in correctly and that the gears aren't grinding. If that dosen't fix the problem take it back and try a new one. That is what i had to do.

Pinion Gear
1.Just like Badkarma363 said, your gears might be grinding. We are talking about the gear thats on the end of your motor. Ya know, that little metal rod? Take out your motor and put the pinion gear against your knee, or a table. PUSH as hard as you can againt the other side, so that your knee (or table) auctually starts to hurt. You should hear a POP. That means that the pinion gear is in ALL THE WAY. Try THAT first.
2. Before you read this, try strategy # 1 first. Your metal rod that holds on the second gear from the motor (your 25 or 23 gear) might be scrubbing onto the plastic holding case. If thats whats wrong, then take out that little metal rod and shave A VERY LITTLE BIT off the end of it. That should fix your problem. If all above fails, then your just got screwed by RadioShack. Just go get your refund and get a new one!

does the sound change pitch/volume with speed? I assume it's something binding. did you put in metal bearings? if you didn't, did you wipe any of the grease off? did you put in 4WD? I'd say take everything apart and make sure you got all the bearings/bushings seated correctly, and that nothing's crooked.
also, did it make this noise right when you bought it? or did it start after you modded it? |
