Finally Revealed: 2010 Camaro, guts inside!

This is it. The 2010 Chevy Camaro, revealed in all its glory. According to details we've been told by the folks breaking the embargo, the new Chevy Camaro will come in LS, LT and SS (yes, we know there's a badge there that says "RS")— and be available in either 6-speed manual or auto flavors. Under the hood, a 296 HP 3.6-liter V6 or a 416 HP 6.2-liter V8 with cylinder deactivation. And check out that interior — looks very muscular to us. Weight? How about 3,747 lb — lighter than the Challenger. Full details below the jump.

The Camaro will come in LS, LT and full-on SS specs and be available with 6-speed manual and auto transmissions. Under the bonnet sit fuel-efficient 296bhp 3.6-liter V6 and 416bhp 6.2-liter V8 engines, which can run on fewer cylinders to improve economy. It shouldn't just be a burnout king either, handling should be pretty good thanks to an all-independent suspension setup and a StabiliTrak stability control system. 4-pot Brembo brakes front and rear shed the speed on the SS. Weight balance is split 52/48 front/rear too, but the Camaro is a porker, weighing in at more than 1,700kgs.
The interior gets cool LED lighting, leather seats on posher models and dials and gauges inspired by 1969 Camaros. The US gets the car in early 2009, while we'll get it some time after that. Super.

Tex do you know anything about the dimensions of the inside cab? I'm thinking of trading in my stang for one of these but dont know if I will fit...

Not yet (waiting for the official press release...), but passing judgment if the Production cars have the same size as the concepts, it looks to be a bit roomier. More power, and less weight then the Mustang GT, for possibly the same MSRP after a year or so. Given, the SS may run into the mid 30s to low 40s, won't know until GM says something. But, the base model (with the 3.6L V8) will be no slouch for an everyday driver. Mind you, nearly the same HP as the Mustang GT's V8, with better fuel economy, and a stick behind it!

Apparently, according to Insideline I think, the Z/28 was dropped, but there are serious doubts about that from a few folks. The Z/28 may contain a version of the Vette's supercharged 6.2, if it comes to the table. Since nothing has been said from GM about it, it may end up as a future model... who knows.

With the quality of GM's current interiors, I'd more then wager it would be a much more pleasent space then the 'Stangs.

I can't complain about the looks, they fixed all the little things about the preproduction cars that folks didn't like, and kept it panel for panel like the concept which is really good, as did the Challenger.

Oh, and when asked about the Mustang GT as a comparison, the Camaro designer simply replied, "Not the GT, we used the GT500 as the bar to beat"... These things are gonna get rabid.

Apart from the Steering Wheel, Shift Knob, and the 'stacks' above the clusters, it looks **** clean. But the Shift Knob is easy to change, the stacks you can cut, and the steering wheel ebay will take care of. But I would also like the chrome around the taillights black, the turn signals smoked (more), and the front grill de-badged. Then it's good.

Looks pretty cool, how much does it pull?

My Camaro has struts, the 4th gens have struts.. yeah it's the return of the Camaro, and it's ultra badass.. but it's not like they are going to go completely all out with it, it still has to be comfortable for a day to day drive.

Nothing wrong with struts, I bet it corners very nicely.

Edit: In-fact, there's a video of it going around the Nurburgring, Texan probably knows where it is.. the car sticks well in corners.
