This is the process if youve never had an RC with a lexan body: http://www.ifi.unicamp.br/~epiovani/lexan.htm I want to make this clear before this goes anyfurther. I am not selling these right now, just showing you guys. I will sell them once I have enough posts on the forum to do that. right now I have like 25 posts, I need 100 to sell. Also, because the process is long I am only going to be selling the two bodies I posted first because I made a box full of them. Once they are gone (IF) I will take a poll for 2 more bodies to make. For now enjoy the pix, I will post some painted ones soon. ****UPDATE**** here are a few pictures. I cut this body out really fast so its kinda choppy, and I sprayed it with paint (not very well) I just did it real fast so I could let you guys get a better look at how it will look on the chassis. I also have decal sets for both cars. Last edited by TripleXmodder(akaXXX); 11-09-2008 at 08:47 PM.. Reason: wrong info. |

I can it's just time consuming, time I don't have right now. So I made a box full of Stingrays and Ford GT's. When I have time again, ill take some input on what people would like. |

I will start selling these right after Xmas and New Years. Probably around 10$ to cover shipping and packaging costs. I want to keep the price as low as possible. Im not trying to get rich from these, just want to get back what I put into them and maybe earn a buck or 2 each, so I can buy new parts and stuff. |

I have a Question, how do you get decals?
If you were to make say an S2000 Lexan body, any idea how I'd find decals for the headlights, taillights, front and back Honda emblems, and the S2000 side emblems? |

Try google searching. I make my own. You can buy decal transfer paper (white not clear unless you have a white body) at your local hobby shop, find photos online of what you need, or get 1/10 scale decals and scan them then resize them in your paint shop and print them out. Spray the decal paper with clear coat after printing and wait to dry. |

I'd say, "Welcome," but I think I got here after you did!
My picks would be: 1. '89 Nissan 240SX coupe, if that's possible. That was the sweetest car I ever owned. 2. The Starsky & Hutch Grand Tourino would be cool. I bought the Transformers Barricade Light kit, and I think I can mod it to look like S&H's "magnetic stick-on roof light." 3. Ferrari Enzo. I have a question or two about "Lexan." I gathered it's the type of material you vacuum-form the bodies out of after you make the mould. Is it a durable plastic? How does it hold up to slamming into things? Is it easy to paint? Props to the bigguns, --Doc

Well lexan is what you see as a body on all the Pro higher scale RC electric and Nitro cars and trucks. Atomicmods made a Lexan kit for Xmods but have been out of stock for awhile ( http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/C...it__11162.aspx ) and for Mini-Z ( http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/R...et__14147.aspx ) A big advantage is wieght shaving, as well as durability. Lexan bodies can flex and with a good foam bumper set they hold up alot better (The Xmod bodies will break and get damaged more often because they are harder). This is also because Lexan bodies are painted from the inside so your paint job doesnt get ruined even if the body gets a scratch. Most all RC's on a Pro circuit (except at this scale) use Lexan bodies. Some of us are trying to get that incorporated into the 1/28-1/24 scale circuit. To paint a Lexan body, you layer (darkest colors first) spray coats to the inside. By masking you can do nice graphics. For a simple 1-3 color design it is fairly easy and can be done with an airbrush or Tamiya spray paints. A more detailed design can be a bit harder ESPECIALLY at this small scale. Checkout my XXXRay, it is a Lexan body sprayed from inside and kept simple... just a racing stripe. Checkout this link and go to the #18 th post. http://www.xmodsource.com/forum/show...ghlight=XXXRay I hope this answers your questions. |

Keep in mind that you need Lexan, Polycarbonate, or some acrylic paints to paint Lexan bodies.
If you use regular spray paints, they won't stick to the lexan. Then, when you touch/twist/bend/crash the body, you'll have paint that flakes off and half a clear body. |

Exactly, I am not a pro at it and I just use the Tamiya spary paints, they are acrylic designed for Lexan bodies and are at your local hobby shop. Im not sure what the guy uses who will be painting my next 2 lexans, but he airbrushes. Also, there is a Pan car lexan body from Atomicmods.com. It is for Mini-Z but Im sure it will fit fine to an Xmod, you just have to redesign the mounts that come with the kit. I ordered a MRCG chassis and have all the Mini-Z parts already to set it up. I was going to make a Pan car lexan but for now Im gonna order the Atomicmods one. |

Thanks for the info...it answered my questions and then some!
Good to point out that special acrylic paints are needed to adhere to the lexan...I would've found out the hard way with WalMart Paint! The AtomicMods lexan is cool...I like the hood pins...very 70's muscle car-esque...but are the roof pins necessary? Can't it be held down without 'em? --Doc

Thanx XXX,
I've seen them in the hobby shop, but I guess you have to hold one in your hands to get a feel for how soft/flexible the plastic is. I didn't realize the plastic is so thin. Props, Yo. --Doc
