Generation 1 XMOD with Evo Board question
Hey guys! I recently had my Generation 1 XMOD upgraded with an EVO board but now I'm having a hard time getting the body to fit properly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here is a pic of my xmod to explain what I'm talking about

Looks like a 350Z body clip. Have you tried different bodies ? The Evo and STi works wonders. But if you don't like either of those or don't have one, you can try different bodies with a high roof.

Try to raise the body a little bit by putting brushings under the rear clip and getting a longer screw to thread through them. Try to lift the front up by using a different body clip. Or shave the insides of the 350Z.

I might be able to help ya, but before I do can you post pics of the chasis from above, and directly from one of the sides. The chassis didn't seem custom, but if it is can you post a pic from below. (P.S. I can no longer see the original picture)

I edited the links with the pictures I already have of the car. It isn't on a custom chassis...just the stock one for now. I'll take pics from the above, bottom and the side when I get home from work tonight

You can try to remove the plastic stock gen1 receiver cover(the black piece beside the servo) and mount your evo EP vertically.
It seems to have space there, If it doesn't fit, shorten your wires and mount the body higher as suggested. |

try putting the board upside down or see if it fit over the top of the front gears so when you open the hood you will see the board

You know, I couldn't help but realize that you still have the black plastic casing for the Stock EP in the Chasis. I could be wrong but I doubt the Servo needs that plastic there. I'd check to see if you can remove that, if thats the case, you might have enough room to stand the board sideways along the side of the motor and servo.
It's just a thought... the only other thing i could think of would be to mount the board closer to the front of the car, since the board is so far back its got to be touching the rear mounting spot on the inside of the shell. See if you can mount it ontop of the servo or something, it might make it a pain to change the crystal, but that would be the least of your worries since you can drive it. EDIT: Heres a couple photos for my 2nd, it seems easier, the chasis you see is a permanently set short one, so I can't extend it to what you have it set to. however i think you get the idea of mounting it closer to the front.

Try the 67 Camaro front clip, as thats quite high, or the 65 Mustang, but that might not reach far enough into the body to secure it on. Maybe even a Civic clip, it lifts my RSX quite a bit.
And your car would be high off the ground, so it doesn't look that great. And it's not the best technique out there. Last edited by dontspamme; 06-10-2009 at 05:15 PM.. |

One last suggestion, if moving it further up front doesn't work because it his the BK mounting posts. then rotate it 90 degrees like below, I know it'll fit cause though my convertible Z doesn't have a roof, I still have the point on the shell where the windshield and other things start....
