Default Project "Spy"

This car started out as a silver supra xmod i had laying around, and was looking for some extra speed. So after going online i grabbed some liths, and got some 3.3k resistors from rs, this is what i had:

basically an "rs special" aside from the liths and the tight turns.

Well after awhile i got bored with it, and wanted something not many other people have. So i hit up my LHS and grabbed a Novak Spy. I got an M18 receiver and tx from joshsrchobbies, and a custom wound 27 turn motor from Faze, built by imcreative.

I had all that, and realized the stock chassis wouldnt cut it, and got a switchblade from the fissionmodrc shop from ebay... once i had everything i attempted to mount it on the chassis and came up with this:

The chassis turned out to be messed up, for some reason the bevel gear for the awd in the front would always come out whenever i ran it. after exchanging many messages with the person who runs the fissionmod shop, i realized they had no clue on how to spell or communicate, so i just gave up on trying to get a different chassis...(after a while i realized i would be better off getting a different chassis from somewhere else than wasting my time with this person). Thankfully jollyboss posted a switchblade for sale that i bought from him. Lucky for me it was a good one, even though it was from the fissionmod shop...

After getting everything reinstalled i was happy to finally be able to run the car again. While running it on my driveway for a little bit i came across another setback... The endbell on the motor i was using melted..

Once this happened i decided that i would finally get the motor that i wanted in the car in the first place when i chose to go all aftermarket in the electronics dept... I made a few orders on ebay, and the tinyrc shop, and got a plasmadash motor and an atomic bb can.. i thought i would make the plasmatomic motor..

Now ive got the motor installed in the car and made a test run on the speed checker.. hit 34mph.. i wasnt sure that i built the motor right. i exchanged a couple pms with ph2t and he gave me some pointers for the motor.

while all of this was going on, i decided that i would upgrade some areas on the chassis, and ordered some aluminum cupjoints for the front and rear, along with a set of aluminum knuckles. i wanted to make sure i wouldnt have some other setbacks with the chassis and parts breaking..

Now i have the car ready to run. I decided to switch the body from the silver supra to an old muscle car. after some digging through some boxes of parts i have, i found the right one.. The 67 Camaro.. With it being a Camaro i decded that i wanted to take out the awd and go rwd.

Finally i have the car running properly, and tested to get the speed i wanted to achieve....40mph on the speed checker.

Here is the list of mods done to the car as of now:

plasmatomic motor with neo-mags
jdr liths 7.4 volt
rwd, with custom shorty driveshaft
12tooth pinion/spur
locked rear diff
medium suspension all around
novak spy esc
m18 tx/rx
deans plugs
gpm front knuckles
gpm rims with soft slicks
alum cup joints
towerpro sg90 servo
67 Camaro body
vxb widetrack bearings

Well time for the finished pics of the car with all the elecs mounted:

close up on the chassis:

And finally the proof that it can go 40mph:

That is 66kmh converted you get 41.01 mph... i did get it to hit 68 kmh, but i didnt get a pic of it...

I will get some pics later today of the rx/tx. The rx is in front of the motor. I decased it, and wrapped it with electrical tape.

Yes, it is 18 awg wires on the liths, and the motor wires.

The wheels i got from RCMart.

With the 18awg over the 22awd that comes stock you are decreasing the resistance allowing more current to flow to the motor. This way, you aren't losing as much power from the batteries to the motor.

Maybe this will explain it better: http://science.howstuffworks.com/electricity4.htm

I am allowed to post a link to there right?

With the other switchblade, i am going to see if it can be used in another project i plan on doing.
