Subaru Replica

First off, before you think it. No i did not get yet another subaru. Im painted this body for our one and only Model. But thought i would share.

Here is the projected Goal.







Basically its a 2 tone. Gun Metal Grey bottom, Black Pillars and Roof, Hood/Truck. Pretty simple straight forward paintjob. Heres the before shots.











Model did a pretty good attempt. My camera makes it look better than it is though. theres some flaws in it, and it sorta looks more like a primer coat. Kinda dull, But i plan on getting it all fixed and sorted out Progress soon.

hey i cant let a suby sit unfinished! its a crime. I told her to ship it to me, with a couple bucks for return shipping, and id take care of the rest I hope to bring this thing to full Life

So before you go thinking im crazy, let me explain lol.

The tail light lenses were cracked and broken and not up to my standards. the side skirts dont look like the ones on the car, and the front bumper has some slight damange, and again, doesnt look close to the one on the car.

So they HAD to go.

I will be replacing them with New Side Skirts, A New Front Bumper, and Brand new tail light lenses!

Before I saw the vid, I had the feeling you were about to destroy them like you did to the mustang front bumper .
Glad to see this is going to get finished oh has this been long project.

haha yeah i couldnt bare to see it be drug on any longer. So i voluntered my services.

I actually wanted to do this car for my self. But when i realised thats the car she was going for. well i figured id still do it. but for her instead of me.

I was going to work on it tonight, but i finally buckled down and started adding inventory to my site, So ill try to get back to this tomorrow. and post some good updates.

Lol, heyyyy mine wasn't that bad. It was the fixing then finding a flaw, then trying to fix it again, and the paint sucked :]

Hehe, i'd prefer spr to do it because he's seen the car in person, i havent. :[

My mom just called me and voluntered to tak me to portland today!! shes on her way over now, so im going to go jump in the shower and get ready to go. So by tonight, i expect to have models car painted. and the skyline with tinted windows

Pretty close. i just got the paint, i was going to buy gun metal, but it was soo dark you could hardly tell the difference between it and black. so i got "light gun metal" has a little more contrast, should look pretty darn good. Ill spray a few coats this afternoon.

Well model, what do you think of the color?






It needs a couple more coats. and then some clear coat. But theres your base coat layed out.

Grey coat is now finished. Its layered perfect, a thin coat of clear for now. (will get more once the black is done)

So i unmasked the roof. Heres some good pictures to show you the difference between the color it was, and the color it is now. (keep in mine the roof is sanded now)

yeah im really glad i went with it, rather than the normal gun metal. i was super iffy, but figured if it turned out to light i could go over it with dark later. but i think its nearly perfect.

its about 40 degrees here.

Thats why its mouted on a moveable object. I prep it inside. Run out side super fast, spray a coat, and then run back in side and let it dry in the warmth. The nice thing about my "office/workshop" is it was a added on room from what my house originally was, so they people that did it, did a base board heater. So i can crank that up, and keep that room at about 75 degrees for a good temperture, and not have to heat my whole house at 75 killing my electric bill lol.


Im currently spraying the black roof now. When i get a few more coats on it ill take some pictures.
