there's only one street-legal skyline I know of in MN...it's an R33 GT-R. good thing the owner's a moron:
"uh...have you ever worked with a Greddy boost controller?" "...uh, yea, they're crap...but we'll see...what's it doing?" "I dunno, I installed it this afternoon, and my car's really slow now" "well, better give it a test drive" yep, it had no power. than we re-soldered a couple connections, and it worked fine. Really strange chassis dynamics. the roll point was definitely underground in the rear, and very low in the front. but, the strangest thing was the AWD system. very tail happy, but the computer controlled center diff was noticeably slow to react. I'll start with a GC8 subaru coupe. looks better, weighs about 1k lbs less, just as much power potential, predictable suspension, roll points about as close to the COG as any car on the market, easily made street-legal, cheaper to insure, and they designed the AWD system right the first time. no need for any add-on computer controlled nonsense to compensate for design flaws. I'd still love to have a porsche, probably a carrera 4S. but a GT3 would work. a skyline would be cool...but it's not on my list. certainly not if I had to pay for it. aaannnd, I still say you should fill the holes on your xmod, and give it a sweet paint job (i.e. NOT that puke green color ) |

Yeah, the tail-happy characteristic is due to the 'ETS' part in ATTESA-ETS. Attesa is just the fancy name used for the 4WD system. ETS stands for Electronic Torque Split. Basically the Skyline is RWD until the computer detects a considerably large amount of lost traction in the rear end. After that, the ETS just helps out by adding front-wheel drive assist to keep you from oversteering too much and getting out of control. It would've been nicer if they just kept it like a traditional sports car, RWD only, but its part of Nissan's technological developments. Besides, the history of Nissan's Attesa system is quite intriguing. GC8... That's the 2.5RS, correct? I like that one. It looks clean, its 2 door, and not too curvy. Many of the guys from GTRC, including myself, hate those kinds of guys who don't deserve to own Skylines... To be honest, the guys at GTRC are anything but ricers. They all like keeping their cars clean, usually without a bodykit, and all about performance modifications. Kind of like the guys from TeamNSE, except those guys drive FFs. EDIT: oh, yeah... I was bored after dinner and started playing with the parts in the F-150 body kit set. I just found out an awesome modification you can do to a Skyline. Pictured here, is a mod almost anyone can do, which automatically adds 5000 extra BHP to your ENGINE without even needing to do any work ON the engine! Its called the hood-wing performance enhancing kit! Retailing at $5000 ($1 for each BHP!) at a local ricer shop near you! Last edited by REDisFASTER; 01-31-2007 at 10:50 PM.. |

wow what a great development REDisFASTER, your now officially an idiot...j/k, nice innovation though. A bit of topic, but how much (ball park figure) are they selling Sky's for in Canada?

A "decent" one would run around the high 10s, say $15-19K. A junk one would be $10K. Those are all GT-Rs by the way. The highest priced ones are usually in the best condition and usually almost all stock. A decent one would have some aftermarket modifications (usually all performance based), some wear and tear and the engine is usually a bit beat up. (Hey, no one buys a Skyline to keep it stock and not abuse it, right?) And a junk one is similar to a $8K 240SX. Though its bad for the Skyline economy. It gives teenagers an opportunity to make Skylines and Skyline owners look bad and potentially change Canada's 15 year import rule... Those are all in CAD by the way Hopefully the 15 year old import law doesn't change, because I want to import a 1991/2 Renault Alpine A610! Here's a modified one that inspired me to want one! It looks great, its RWD, its already left-hand drive, and its French! I like French things |

if I wanted a tail-happy AWD system, I'd drive a chevy AstroVan....handles almost exactly the same, just with different springs. no joke. Also handles alot like my buddies SN95 Mustang, but with more traction
a GC8 is just the body style (and actually not right...the 'M' is for the coupe, and 'C' would be the sedan, and the number designates the motor. IIRC a GC8 is the jdm STi, sedan. a 2-door RS would be a GM6), 2.5RS is just a model, which was still available with the newer body styles. but you're thinking of the right body styles. only ones available as a 2-door coupe. sexy and light. stock they're less than 3k lbs. a coupe with a little insulation removal (not even stripped) can see as low as 2500. of course, my EA82 wagon weighs in at 2500 with all the insulation.....and the same suspension, and engine options.

I'm cool about the question, just wanted to give a heads up. Besides, this thread is way off topic anyway. MODS: don't take that as an encouragement to close the topic |

oops....I'm over it. AH HA!!! I found the trailer, this is the same guy I bought mine from. they also come with a few pieces to make a hitch (some creative custom work is necessary, but you're not starting from total scratch...) http://search.ebay.com/search/search...trypage=search |
