Default universal controllers, rc

does anyone know of a site or store that sells universal controllers for rc cars?
i checked with my local hobby shops and they dont carry any.
the reason i ask is i have xmods wich run on 27. mhz and then i have a couple other r/c's that run on anywhere form 24mhz-43.3mhz.
when i was younger and more into r/c's their used to be programmable contollers that you could set specific preloads or inputs.

any help would be greatly appreciated,

cheers,
bondo

I get my radio systems from www.towerhobbies.com

not sure if they have anything universal like that...but it's worth a look.

You might be able to get away with a Mini-z controller and a crystal set, because the car crystals are the same but the controller crystals are different.

just check your local hobby shops they should have a wide variety of programable controlers that range from $50- above $1000.

no it would get ****ed up if you bought the right one. i got one for all my Rc Planes and it still works fine. there are multiple frequencies already programed into some of them, and then it can handle 5 more that you program in yourself. it required 8 AA batts and the planes would die before the controler. it cost me $300 and i still have it. though all my plane are destroyed. if i can find it i'll post the make and model for you bondo.

a lot of pot ago... i think lol

i found my reciept... PCM 10X Air Tx Only w/Case- its a 10 channel remote for Rc Planes. now i know this isn't what you are looking for but it shows that there ARE controlers that will do this.

i know they exist but hell if i can find one.. all of the hobby shops around here are run by stoners who have no clue what your talking about unless its on the shelf in front of their faces.
last time i was in there to buy something i was asking one of them about photo-etched decals, he went in the back for a few minutes and came back out only to tell me that they dont sell cameras

Alright the idea of a universal controller is pretty vague.

First off, Xmods are AM, a channel that most hobby grade R/C don't use any more. Most remote control cars you see now are run off F/M. F/M has more distance/range.

Second, frequencies are uncombineable. You can't use a F/M crystal in an A/M set, and vice versa.

Unless you were using all A/M R/C, of F/M R/C's it would be possible with different crystals for each car.

Later,

ok i want to get this straight for EVERYBODY so listen up and what i am saying is true becuase me and alot of people have tested it!

****xmod electronics for some stupid reason will not work with a hobby grade controler****We are not sure why but it is true the only transmitter you can use on a xmod is the one that came with it**with the supplied crystals****

dont second guess me please because i know that is correct

i know that xmods are incompatible with other remotes...

Bondo is looking for one for OTHER Rc cars... NOT XMODS.

lilskipro, the only reason Xmods don't work with hobby grade R/C's is because it runs on AM, hobby grade cars run on FM.

It is possible to do one for R/C's other than Xmods, though. You could buy one controller with tons of memory, and just have different ctrystal sets for them. You would have to make sure that the cars are all FM though.

This should clear things up,
