Default Xmod + Sand = Everlasting Problems

Ok I hit a sand pile by accident when it went out of range (100ft, jesus) Everything made it but steering. It was locked up. I managed to fix it to the point where it goes left and right but no smoothly and I cant turn the wheel slowly or it locks up. I took everything out and cleaned it with wd-40 and paper towels. Any ideas how to make it like new?

I would say get a whole new ASSY board or a new Servo board... either one will get you something you need but you could also buy the whole setup.

You have to open the servo and clean out the gears inside, its not easy either... When an evo xmod hits sand its more or less suicide if u dont know how to clean it.

The servo seems to move well free of gears. When I put gears on which I cleaned with a nylon brush and soapy water it is smoother but it still gets stuck. The gear with the limiter thing (I forget what its called) seems to hold it up. I really cant buy any new parts but I might be able to next week which I would buy alot of upgrades as well. Please someone tell me what I can do to save this car so it could run by tommorow (maybe?, I am dying for some hardcore racing with my friends!).

get a new servo keep it safe from sand. Build a protection barrier under the wheelwells so crap from the ground doesn't get into the servo and assy boards.

The servo seems fine though. Is that really the problem and what could I use to clean it?

EDIT- What about a gen 1 servo. I have a old gen 1 honda civic I dont use.

Good news, soaked servo in alcohol and cleaned gears with soapy water. Also cleaned servo area with wd40 and qutips. Car works almost as new!
