about the new mods in shops
i was buying some parts for my tc project (witch is going well) and asked the shop owner about the new mods and if he will stock them. he replied with a stern NO because you have to stock loads of every modification and there to expensive and dont sell. i was just wondering what your local shops say.
thanks

Yea, apparently the franchises are gonna look the other way on this one instead of putting their money out there on a chance. They'd much rather buy those cheap Chinese auto-robot things and the flying contraptions hoping they sell at a better price point. Sans Christmas, the Xmod thing is a small following and a major potential for tying up assets for Joe Franchiser.

i've just called 5 radioshacks around town, two of them told me xmods were discontinued, 2 other ones told me they never know what they're getting in until 2 weeks before they actually get it, and 1 told me that his most recent newsletter said "Xmas 2008"...none of these stores were franchieses. if i had to guess, they'll probably start stocking them mid to late october. the franchises are probably still freaked out about all the parts selling for 97 cents and the xmods going for $20, i'm sure that was a slap in the face for them

By nature not all franchises will make the same choice. Franchise simply means instead of Radio Shack owning the location, John Doe does. Radio Shack will dictate what it's managers receive, while John Doe gets to choose what his own store will have ordered. This allows them to be anywhere along the pendulum from balls out on X-Mods to having the bare bones kits to having nothing at all. Worst case scenario, you ask them to order what your interested in-store for pickup, or place the order online for home delivery.
No loss.
