Just painted my STi!

Hey guys... pretty new here and to xmods... but am a veteran of rc cars and models... I personally like the black (Obsidian Pearl) WRX better than the blue (unless it's a Rally edition) so that's the reason I painted it. Tell me what you think... I painted some thin "eyelids" on... not really noticeable... Other appearance changes I made include: Using alcohol to remove the red film on the taillights, removed fog light covers and enlarged holes to fit 5mm 4000mcd blue led's, left a thin blue trim on the inner part of the grill (unintentional) but find it cool, as it gives a sort of "glowing" effect. I'm also waiting to get the CL lights to wire up the fogs to their wires, that way the fogs aren't always on (when batteries are in). Sorry for the long post!

Yeah... the grill I think looks kind of cool... and actually in person it isn't even really noticeable... But, now that you say it... I see the blue in the front passenger side wheel well... D*mn it! heh heh oh well! I'll touch it up.

thanks! Yeah... I haven't painted a car in a while and kind of rushed through it... I'll touch up the blue with a brush... then clear coat it all.

Are those the stock lights?

Which ones? The front/rear... or the fogs? The fogs are 5mm blue led's... and the front/rear lenses are stock. I haven't been able to buy the command logic light set yet.

it almost looks factory painted because of the shine
but u can obviously tell u painted it because u can c random blue spots
did u use a tamiya paint?

Thanks! I didn't use Tamiya paint. I just used $.94 spray paint. I need to touch up the grill and the driver's side wheel well, but right now I'm trying to wire up the fog leds to a swith on the roof. It sucks because of the limited space inside what with the connectors, wires, soldering, hot glue, etc... I'll get pics up once I get all the lighting worked out.

Not yet... maybe later. Maybe I'll do like a gray Subaru Rally vinyl for the sides. I like solid colors though. We'll see.

Thanks! I got it to work last night but broke on of the led resistor wires... I was planning on re-designing the wiring layout anyway. I noticed one of the leds was dimmer than the other, so I want to put both leds directly to the power source and not have the leds in a "chain".

Those fogs are sweet. Where did you get them? I have three WRXs now and that looks really good. I want to do that!

Thanks! The fogs are just 5mm l.e.d.'s that I wired up. I had to take the foglight covers off, then drill the little hole to 8/16" size. This will let the round part stick out a bit but keep it to where it looks like real bulbs. I'll scan in a drawing of the wiring I did. I'll also take a pic of the l.e.d. assembly. I wanted it to be independent of the command logic lights, so I soldered it directly to the battery holders, wired up a slide switch and put a hole in my roof (which a roof scoop is going to fit on the switch so it's able to slide) and it looks great when they're turned on!! Pics up soon!
