Default New Direction: Project D

i was looking at my gen1 supra last night and i didn't feel like i pushed myself with the body so basicly it was time to find a supra body style that i liked, and i found it.

so now i am going to turn this

into something close to this

i believe this car is called the "Demon Supra"

i still plan to get full gpm and all the other stuff from my "iced supra" project but i really wanted to make the body look more realistic..... so i got a lot of work to do
-project put on hold-

well since there was a blizzard where i live i couldn't go out to get parts for my project. i think i am going to buy another supra body because i would hate to mess up my already painted one.

so i did the next best thing, i went all over the house and bascily took alot of stuff apart to find anything worth potential to use on my supra. i struck gold when i found a flashdrive cap. so i cut it in half and now i have 2 almost identical scoops for the roof and the hood.

they will need some sanding to fit the curve of the car, but they should work

i decided what colors i am going to use. they will be the same maui blue color i have right now but i am going to do a color flip (green, blue, purple) stripe or 2 down the top on the side (or maybe just get crazy with the stripe tape). i will have test pics up soon.

i did a test for the stripe, and it gives a black appearence (because of black base coat.) when there is no light shining on it, and since the stripe is so thin it is hard to see the color flip, so i am going to try and reverse the colors and see how it looks

*update*

well it looks like i might be looking for another color ....

i just painted an old car i had laying around just to test the colors (good way to see how your car will turn out..). i don't think i will be painting a green/blue car anytime soon..... (my clock on my camera is not set forward yet )

well since i gave up on the color for now i focused on the scoops, i haven't glued them on yet because i am kinda so-so on the hood scoop it seems a lil to big.

the yellow circles are the ones i plan to cut out (really don't know how w/o a dremel...) and fill them with some really small wire mesh i found.the red i will fill up with something (i sense a trip to the local auto store.... again). i would like to be able to cut holes under the scoops (just to make it realistic) but i am in the process of deciding.

hopefully i am getting close.

well since no 1 commented i am forced to double post (sorry)

*update*

i decied not to use a scoop on the hood, i am going to put one on the roof most likely going to drill holes and cut a small square first for air, just to make it a working one (no point to modify the body if dosn't really function in my eyes).

Question: should i use super glue to set the scoop to the body and just sand the dried glue down after?

i guess i will work on the hood and front bumper next ( still dont know wat i am going to do )

i might go the bondo way so i can smooth out the cracks between the bk and the body if i wanted, but then i would have to paint the whole car at once which is going to be a pain, just trying to find the right paint is already getting me frustrated.

already taped off the body to drill and cut (and hopefully attach the scoop) and paint, which i don't have atm.

i had an idea for my hood so it it works out i will post the picture.

*edit*

here are the pics

i tend to destoy stuff when i clean up and it gave me the idea for a reverse scoop or whatever its called. i think i need to add more superglue or something because it poped off and i had to re-sand and try again... it stayed on this time. would put it on the body but i taped everything off for re-painting like 3 days ago and i am to lazy to see if it looks rice on the body.

srry for 2x posting, but no 1 replied to my last post.

the hood scoop wasn't working the way i wanted it to so i drilled some more smaller holes around the bigger one, and started on the bk. i also put in the blue gpm parts that just arrived in the mail. they required some persuasion to get eveything to fit but it runs a lot better now, i can see and hear the difference. i will put pics up when i get my camera back.

the rest of my list is: 2 more gpm parts for the front, better rims and wheels, wire upgrade, motor, and finish body work.
