SSMT axles are axles commonly used for building 1:25th rigs.
They enable power to be transferred from the motor to the wheels, just like any axles do.

They are really really really really hard to find. I got mine from someone at Scale4x4.
ToysRUs made SSMT's a while ago, and now they are discontinued. They are very expensive nowadays. One SSMT sold on EBay for like 160. Consider yourself lucky if you find a SSMT.

The ssmt was an r/c toy that toys r us sold (as mentioned above in another post). Many people use them to build custom cars because they are designed like REAL axles on real cars. They look real, unlike the xmod, which looks kind of real if you are squinting at it from a distance.
They also use these axles because they can be used to make crawlers. If you search the net, you wil find tons of 1/25 scale r/c off road and crawler trucks that use ssmt axles... |

Oh, come on now... You know you could make a crawler by taking the center section (basically the electronics) of an xmod, the front and rear axles of an ssmt, a 1/25 scale model body, a servo for a motor, and a bit of custom fab work to tie it all together. that DOES involve an xmod, and should be in the mod section (assuming that's what jabari was thinking about when he originally posted his question). Now, I wouldn't use any xmod bits if I was going through the trouble of making a totally custom truck, but somone might... |

DanielK... Not sure if he will follow though with those. If he does, that would be sweet.
