yes it is a nice stang if I say so my self. Don't get me wrong I'm not a pauper, I just don't want you guys getting the idea your gonna get rich fixing cars. Sure a guy or two make really good money, but for the most part those days are over.

PS admins could this be renamed something to due with my ongoing work thread. I enjoy sharing the not so common repairs I run into.

Blame Wyotech and UTI recruiters, and TV.

Though I hear from many that diesel mechanics can easily make a killing compared to the other fields. And this is from outside the tech-school recruiters.

yeah diesel and heavy techs especially working in a fleet see lots of repetition of the same repair. Making it very easy to get 70 to 80 hour flat rate a week.

My friends uncle is the only dealership BMW tech in the area I live in and from what I here here doesn't make much more then me. But keep in mind he is about twenty years older them me too. What brand your working on has little to do with how much your going to make. Well maybe unless you are going to own the parts department too.

When I first started I work at a Oldsmobile/Hyundai and Isuzu dealer ship. I primarily worked on the Hyundai's and Isuzu, I made more per hour then I do now but the hours were starting to disappear so I got a job in the aftermarket.

Honestly I have no clue. We don't have a dyno. I do know it makes power from Idle to 5,500rpm. Mainly we were trying to improve the overall drivability.

Today I have the pleasure of working on this fine beauty. She is a sleeper, unless you know better.

My next project is replacing the engine in this

in other news I got rear ended

The spare tire got rip of the hoist cable and bounced around the street like a hockey puck. Notice the impact mark on my diff cover.

How did the rear-ending happen (stop sign/stop light I'm assuming by someone not paying attention?).

Pretty Prowler. What engine are you replacing the (assuming) stocker with?

Cheers,
Kyle.

Yeah I'm fine I will just be sore a few days. The brace was a legal thing until they had x-rays to see if my neck was damaged.

I was heading north on a five lane road with the center lane being the left turn lane. I was in the left "go" lane. A car was stopped one car ahead of me. Trying to turn left from the obviously the wrong lane. Another car and I were stopped behind the idiot. Then a full sized van didn't seem to notice the cars in from of him were not moving. He ran in to me going about 40mph.
The best part was I was sitting their stop for about 30 seconds with out moving before I got wacked.

I will just be replace the Prowlers engine with the stock 3.5.

Not so much. At 3200 lbs with 170 horses makes it comparable to some other cars you may have heard of...

(thats .053 hp per pound of car for 1.8 turbo passat)

1996 Dodge Neon sport - 2456 lbs with 132 horses (.054 hp per pound)

2000 Hyundai Elantra - 2626 lbs with 140 horses (.053 hp per pound)

2000 Ford Escort - 2478 lbs with 130 horses (.052 hp per pound)

I know that weight to power ratio isn't everything, however, this should put some things into perspective here.

The Mark VIII is a more exceptional vehicle.

Got a few hours in yesterday on this beast. As long as the shops not to busy to day with normal work, I might get the engine out.

Just replacing the siezed factory 3.5 with another used 3.5. I'm not saying its impossible to put a v8 in, put its very tight with the v6. But the 3.5 is a good engine, concidering the car is all aluminum and fiber glass it should be pretty quick.
