hmm that is a very good question.... to be sure I would search through the DMW website, there are also some good free legal advice sites out there that should be able to answer the question for you.
My basic understanding is that NJ traffic law is similar to PA, if a ticket is issued then the permit can be revoked / the license suspended, if you don't get a ticket then it shouldn't affect the permit or license but most likely will need to be declared on your insurance policy.

were you doing everything else legal? not sure how permits work there, but here a permit is you have to be with a driver over 18 and they have to have a valid license. as long as you were doing nothing illegal, and dont get a major ticket outta the deal, the only reprocussion would be insurance rates going up. If you get a major ticket out of it, its going to depend on how many points its going to count towards you, and how many points they give you on permits there.

And at Zippo, i wasnt doing anything illegal. have my brother(23) with me so yea.

I could be wrong, but if memory serves me, they hold the licensed driver responsible since they're the ones "teaching" you. I'm on the MVC site now doing the research i'll get back to you soon
EDIT: I couldn't find anything in their drivers manuals and rules and regulations for violations with a permit. It seems that the state of NJ simply treats the situation as though you're a licensed driver though you don't have it yet. Your insurance is supposed to deal with everything, but like i said thats just based on the loops i keep going through trying to find the info. The penalties and points may just be placed on your license when you get it. I supposed you can just be safe and ask the MVC directly by email or phone (here's the contact link): http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/About/ContactEmail.htm

well my mom called the insurance company today to report the accident. and they said pretty much that it doesnt matter if i got a ticket(which i havnt) so i should be good and they also said if i get one where i have to go to court it would be the judges choice on the ruling there.

Dont admit anything. That is what they have adjusters for. Thats what the cops do. If you admitted anything to anyone, then you open yourself up for the crazy sue happy people. If your insurance fails to meet their expectations, the people who were involved in the collision will most likely sue you to get the rest. As for local laws, you need to address the courts for that. The law is an ever changing entity. What is law one day wont be the next.
As a side note, and not just for monster here, but everyone look alive when driving. I ride my motorcycle and run into the instances where "people do not see me" all the time. Look left, Look right, and then look again. It will save you from an accident. Last side note, I think you were hotdogging that S4. Whats in there 200HP turbo engine? I know all too well what those cars can do. I think every kid who wants to drive should get an old Volvo station wagon, An ancient Econoline van with a straight 6, or maybe a 4 cylinder Dodge minivan as first vehicles. Their tops speeds are enough to hurt anything. |

I don't mind it if you feel like going around giving advice to people, but what makes you think it's fair to make any assumptions while doing so? He's on a permit which means he's a new driver, that means he's learning things like adjusting to blind spots. How upset were you with your first car, for that matter, how can you even justify judging his driving based off the car? I honestly don't appreciate that last comment being that I was in an accident thats turned into a suit and I'm currently "losing" in the state of NJ because a kid decided to run into my car. I was at a complete stop when it happened and it's still "my fault" as per the state. Sure its not some old van or wagon, but speed and car doesn't matter, the human body is weak and will get hurt and scarred over the simplest things.

First off id like to say it is NOT an S4 it is a 100. it has a 2.8 V6 with 174 HP non turbo, and weighs 2 and a half tons. not fast at all. second of all, not even my brother(sitting in the passenger seat) didnt even see them till they were right there. im not a bad driver at all, i have driven friends around and parents no one complains. And last there were NO injuries and nothing else. theres nothign happening insurance is paying for this, and the damage showed it was m y fualt i knew it, ill admit what i did wrong, im not afraide to my own mistakes makes everything easier if you just try and not lie with ****.
