Servo Range of Motion...

Whats the standard range of motion for a Gen1 servo?

Had a couple of issues while rewiring my board, and besides my motor not getting juice, the servo has a VERY short stroke. 2-3mm in either direction.

Is that typical, or should it go lock to lock?

It really should go lock to lock. Your batteries are probably dead. Care to share what your running as far as a battery setup?

Four new Energizer Industrial AAAs.

It respond, but makes a very... "unsmooth" sound and only moves a little bit.

I am also not getting any juice to the motor side of the circuit board either.

Any clue as to what may be causing this? My soldering isnt the best, but it is at least getting to the servo.

Take a look at all of your solder joints. If they seem fine (no loose wire strands, dry solder joings, etc) then it may be a more serious problem (FETs, fried board, etc)...

You seem pretty electronically savvy, I'm surprised you're still stuck on alkaline. Do yourself a favor and go check out some rechargable NiMH batteries before you try anything else electronical. They have a slight bit more "punch" to them; I can tell the difference in my steering when I switch from alkaline to NiMH. This may fix your problem.

I think I smoked my board.... I resoldered the motor side wires, nice and clean but no juice.
