Very nice! The Ninja 900 is a good solid bike, a couple of my friends used to race them most weekends..... just try not to pull a BART on it....

Look closely at the tubes inside the left and right ram air openings. There are hoses on the back of those tubes that are balancers for the 2 pairs of carbs. These hoses are very critical to it running right and it will run terrible if one is disconnected. Changing the oil kind of sucks as it still somewhat uses a perimeter frame. Mine was too tall for me so I bought lowering links on ebay. Be careful, it has plenty of power but is quite a heavy bike. I think mine dyno'd at 130hp, which was pretty good for the age of the bike. Too heavy for a stunt bike but hopefully thats not what your into.

Watch out eh? sometimes youll see the reason they gave up is because they found some small fatal flaw in the bike, something that either may not be worth repairing or just **** expensive.
Does the bike run? The second guy could have begun repairing it then realized something bad that happened to the bike during the drop. It could be a block crack or anything that might be unnoticeable at first but a huge problem in the long term. And if it is all good, then you got one hell of a deal. And please watch out while riding it, these things are rockets, and noone wants to see you kill yourself on it. |

i actually ike the unintentional orange/green 2 tone. i think when/if you respray it, you should utilize both of those colors.
also, if you kill yourself on it, can i have your subbie?

in the infamous words of ron "tater salad" white........next time you have a thought.......let it go...... seriously man, reading your replies is about as pleasant as playing leap frog with a unicorn. green and orange clash like hell but to each their own. he didn't ask for paint advice and besides,he still needs a full fairing before he even thinks about paint. dumb****s aside. to SPR. GREAT DEAL!. you basically paid $300 for a 7 yr old bike with 2k on the dial.......I HATE YOU! i gotta ask though, what's up with the seat fitment?

If I remember right the bike has a low pressure fuel pump as well as a vacuum operated pet****. there has to be engine vacuum at the pet**** for fuel to flow. the fuel pump fuse should be in the fuse panel on the right side near where your thigh would be when riding. Open the carb bowl drains and see if you get any fuel out. You should also pull the tank off and pull the carbs and give them a good cleaning although I find it hard to believe that all 4 are clogged, sounds more like a fuel pump/delivery problem. It was many years ago and a lot of vicodin since i sold mine so i am just going off of memories here.

The white funnel things are the drains i mentioned. The box with the fins in the 3rd pic looks like the voltage regulator. the 2 tubes I spoke of hook into the back of the ram air inlets. I would pull those carbs off and clean out every orifice in them, be careful not to damage the vacuum diaphragms on top though.

Then either the float bowls are completely caked with crap or the needles and seats are stuck. With the drain open tap on the bowl with the handle of a screwdriver. As long as it has sat, I would just pull the carbs.

sounds like you may have had a small chunk of dirt or something that was knocked loose while you were taking them off.
