Default "Doin' the mudfoot" ('41 chevy monster mudder)

this was built for the august XMF expert member buildoff.
there wasn't an actual theme perse but we all agreed to try to build something outside our personal "comfort zone" to up the ante and level the field a bit.

i'll try to keep you posted if it places.
i doubt it will though because this month is pretty much the who's who of master builders.
if you guys aren't keeping an eye on it then your missing out on an EPIC model conversion comp.
wish me luck..............please?

below is as posted in my builders thread.

trail rig/mudder

i havn't done too many lifted trucks, let alone a truck model conversion and i havn't touched anything older then mid to late 60's so i'd say this is a good bit outside my "comfort zone".

**** comp just started and i'm already having time constraints....
anyways,i got it stuck together for an update.
build cost so far.
$23.00 for the kit

pulled a soft cover from another kit to cover the new battery tray A.K.A. bed.

cheers,

since a weekly update is required......
it's dusty but the paint is good.
i didnt bother to clean it up so please bear with me.

i hate to say it but i'm deffinately not feeling this build.
the two or three off-road xmods that i've done have manliy been to show an appreciation for the style or because ideas were running thin.
i'm not really one for mudders even though i do enjoy hitting some sloppy trials on occasion.

but as far as having a budget and a build plan for a full scale mudd3r,it just isn't me.
lets just say that Extreme 4X4 isn't exactly my favorite part of spike's powerblock.
jessie's cute but ian bugs me if you know what i'm talking abooooot.(deffinately a smart mofotho)

LEGO WHEELS FTMFW!!!

HUGE UPDATE!!!!!

sorry i missed my weekly updates but my PC isn't accepting my camera for some reason.
anyways, i was able to use a friends PC to upload my pics so here they are from the lego wheels up to the finished truck.
i don't have the luxery of picking out the best pics without taking forever so a few may be messed up or crappy quality.

a couple people werent digging my lego wheels so i adapted some MZM wheels and tires to fit.

pretty **** sturdy setup too.
i pilfered my GPM truck rims for my DD and drilled through the MZM wheels and threw in some screws.
the only reason i grabbed the GPM wheels is because they had already been drilled for this purpose from when they were on my first monster.

the beauty of this setup is that it's solid, sturdy, removeable and you dont have to completely ruin the hub of the wheel to get a lug wrench in it.
infact.you don't even see the lugs from the outside.
it also allows for knockoffs or babymoons......i think i'll go with the baby moons FTW.

paint em up sukka!!

got my battery local all setup.

now to hide em.

i had a few bucks left on my budget so i bought a couple tool sets.

next came the motor and bay.
i told myself i wasn't going to go crazy with the detail on this build but GoodFellaz kinda raised the bar when he posted his finished ricer.
i actually took my time with this motor.....:duh:

i didn't think that the flimsy chrome bumpers really fit the theme so i built them out to fit the toolbox.

rear bumper mount.

yay for headlights!!!

yay for taillights!!!

lights all wired up.

chassis before.

chassis after.

here she is in all of her glory.

underside of the shell all nice and tidy.

underside of the chassis all nice and tidy.

random shots

i even made a milliput tennis ball for the whip.

finished motor and bay.

you shouldn't build a toolbox for no reason at all....right?

and there it is.
stay tuned for some new projects.....if i can get this darn computer thing working...

cheers,
Bondo
