Default Computer Thread: Vista, Anyone?

My dad's new Sony Vaio has Windas Vista.....

It looks very MAC-ish, but it's still pretty sleek. The programs operate a but wierd though....

Is it Windows or Windas? I can't seem to remember....

I didn't get the full version yet, I have been using the beta version for a few months. Obviosly there were some issues with the beta but I liked the overall concept.

Cool stuff.

Vista isn't that good for nVIDIA SLI users... But not many people are that much of a gamer/power user, so for the average Joe, it'll be fine. Microshaft released Vista BEFORE they even finished developing the porting for nVIDIA users. Just make sure you have adecquate RAM if you're going to run it on your regular system. For me, WinXP and Ubuntu linux are more preffered.

Those who complain about Vista being lousy (may be your computer geek friend at school) are just jealous because their computer sucks b@lls and can't handle Vista

EHH It's just a rip of the Mac OS.

I'm goin to wait at least 6 months to 1 year until all the bugs and what not are taken care of before upgrading. My computer is like 1 year old but it is more than adequate to run Vista.

How is it a rip of OSX? Other than the transparencies, it is its own OS.

By the way, post your setup.

Yeah, I'm 50-50 with PC and Mac. The thing is though, Mac cases have always been more stylish than any OEM case they give you when you buy a PC.

Build your own computer? Here's a pic of mine from a few months ago

lol

But really nice $500+ cases still don't look as clean and sleek as Mac's G4 and G5 cases!

I'm thinking of actually installing my Vista Release Candidate copy, but I've already ran out of hard drive space

Yeah. Thats true though. Black looks more sleek. They should have black cases too. White iPod vs. black iPod, which is sleeker? The black one for sure, IMHO.

Not at all! Just don't jump into it so quickly or else you'll end up frying something! The most time consuming part for me was plugging the little front-panel plugs, front-panel USB and front-panel LED stuff. I ruined one of the cables so I just took my dad's and just sleeved it. Oh, and plus my hands are rather large

As lilskipro587, I am also Vista ready. But I choose to wait until the bugs are fixed up, since I plan on taking advantage of nVIDIA's SLI system later on.

lilskipro587 - Nice front panel!

Anyways, here's a pic that's more present. You can see the cable sleeving that I did inside the case... It was bloody frustrating and very time consuming!

basic parts include:

CPU
mobo
video card
PSU (power supply unit)
hard drive
optical drive
floppy (just in case )
chassis (formal name for 'case')

and then the regular pheriperals (mouse, keyboard, monitor).

BlackSky909 - dualscreening because its very efficient, especially if you're looking at one monitor for text and typing up stuff from it in the other monitor. The larger desktop space makes it very convenient

I love my mocbook pro. I also run XP on it too, it works out nicely because some programs and websites that I write I need to test on both.
as for my PC, well I'm sticking with xp til they stop making drivers for it, mostly because I don't want to pay $100 plus to upgrade.
