Default servo recentre mechinism

hi, my old electronics board of my xmod caught fire and only the motor and servo were salvageable. so ive found a new board, but it does not have the connections for the recentreing componet, so any ideas for some sort of mechinism to re centre the servo would be helpfull. ive allready tryied springs and 1 side works butn there is nowhere to mount the spring on the other side.

off a old lego rc car i had
it works well except for the steering
when i turn left it stays left so when i come to try and to to recentre it it goes stright to right
i was wondering if u could tell me if the servo still trys to recentre even though the crystal to the car is out if it does it means i dont need the reciever board and i might be able to bget the main board going

OK, the mechanism that recenters the servo is called the pot (right?). Sounds like your trying to make a homemade pot, eh? Harder than it sounds.

springs wouldn't work very well. Your best be is to buy a new servo or pot. however I don't know where you'd get a pot...

Yes, as soon as you let go of the steering wheel, the pot returns it to normal.
