Default faded paint tips anyone???

ok so guys im planning on buying a model car not to mount to a xmod but to look like a beater and im hoping to get a fox body mustang and doing it blue or black with faded paint does anyone have any pointers or methods on how to make the paint look faded???

please dont do it to a foxbody, find a older mustang, like a mustang II those suck. one thing i did without knowing it, if you thin the paint with MEK it will give it a very very flat look, but it will mess up your airbrush

It will be better just to have an airbrush. Doing it with the can paints might be harder. I know bondo can help for sure, his bodies that have faded paint looks nice.

blue im going for that daily driver look like your real one i think but i allways see the fox bodys with faded paint

daily drivers are good, but mine does not have faded paint, most foxbodys that fade are the ones that sit in one spot for years

ya true, but do you get the idea of what im after not a total rust bucket but not a showroom car either

Take some 1000-1200 grit sandpaper to the paint after you've got it layed down. Give the whole body a good once over to take away the gloss then focus on the direct sun areas. The tops of the fenders the hood, trunk roof etc. That should give it the natural weathered look.

or you could just spray it from a distance.and or spray it and put it under direct sunlight or a very powerful light(not heat but brightnesss)

alright sounds good thanks for the tips guys ill get pics when im done, mods you can close this now i think well mabey put it under stickys for paint idk what ever needs to be done do it
