Default Donziikid's Axial AX10:

Howdy,

I'm also the proud owner of an Axial AX10 "Scorpion." I was given the chassis kit as a present for Christmas of '07 and purchased the motor, ESC, receiver and battery with money I've saved up over the years. I've only taken her out a handful of times and have gotten a few short video clips which can be viewed below.

The build time took about nine hours, which I completed all in one day. The body has yet to be painted because of the horrible weather in Michigan, but I'm thinking of a black and silver two tone on the B-17 Better Body.

My Current Setup:
Chassis: Axial AX10.
Motor/ESC: Novak GOAT Crawler.
Servo: HiTec HS-645BB
Transmitter/Receiver: Spektrum DX3.
Battery: 6-cell NiCD stick pack. Soon to be saddle from CBP.

In the pictures below you will find the receiver is not a Spektrum receiver and the transmitter is not a Spektrum transmitter, that is because I just purchased and received my Spektrum TX/RX from Cowbow yesterday, and all the pictures shown are pictures taken before yesterday. I'll make sure to post pictures of the Spektrum setup whenever I get a chance.

All raw video can be found: HERE!

I hope you enjoyed the video, the pictures and the Axial. Any comments on the Axial, photography or video are welcome! Please don't hesitate to leave comments.

Cheers,
Kyle.

Does it tell you step by step how to build it? As on IRC, nice Axial! What kind of body do you think you will get, or just a roll cage?

Yes. Step-by-step-by-step-by-step-by-step. Lol. There was never a point when I had a question on how to put it all together, there is a GREAT manual that comes with this AX10. I'll look for a .PDF version for ya'. Also, if there were any questions along the way all the guys at [url=www.rccrawler.com[/url] would have been ontop of it in an instant!

I'll just be using the Betty Body for right now. Maybe for a shelf queen body I'll paint an F-350/650 later on. We'll see.

Thanks again, mate!

Bah, half of my thread was deleted due to that hack. Terrific.

Here's a little teaser of my electronics:

I'll have a nicer one tomorrow.

You don't plan on using LiPo, right?
That thing should really push, with a Novak, that thing will have a lot of torque......

BLT - It will have NiMH to start out with. Right now I'm just using a 7.2V NiCD 6 cell with a Tamiya plug. Later on I'll be switching to a NiMH eight cell pack from CBP.com. If you look closly at the front axle, you will see a small, square piece of metal. That's the starting of a platform where my batteries will be laid so they're over the front axle for more front axle weight.

Sweed - Not really, I payed for everything on my own except for the chassis; my grandfather got that for me for Christmas. Everything else came out of my pocket, my time and my experience. Just goes to show, having a good job gets you good stuff.

More pictures of my first time outdoors. Finally, no crawling over my parents bed and dirty clothes! However, it does stay a lot cleaner on those indoor runs.

(This AM will be switched out with Spektrum, soon, hopefully..)

I'll have a few videos when we get the charger in from eBay. Leave it to this genius to lose the charger for the KrapDak.

All comments welcome.

Did I never update this thread with pictures...? Huh. Opps.

Here are some more pictures. The two on top are from this weekend, the rest are from sometime in April.

Comments? Questions?

Sand + electronics = bad.
Rocks + electonics = bad.
Water + electronics = bad.

You flip on the lid because of a bad line and land on your electronics and you're in deep doo-doo.

There will be a body sooner or later. I just need to have some better weather (as well as read up a little more on lexan painting) and then I'll paint the B17 body. Nothing special, probably, but I'll try to make it look appealing. Probably something simple like black and white with some silver/chrome accents.

ya go with a body because if the roll cage is anytype of metal it would for one weigh it down two make it flip faster because of the raised center of gravity

If you look closely you can see my new house in the background of the first video.. House

Thoughts? I know this isn't really "crawling" but I haven't gotten my rocks in or setup yet; so I stick to some rougher trail riding at a slower pace.

Why hair-ties were invented:

Was trying to get some footage without my tripod, but it didn't work so well. I'll have some more footage later.

Nice idea. Almost as good as me mounting my camera on top of my Xmod with rubber bands. (I need to find that video...)

Looks awesome so far. I would suggest making a roll cage out of aluminum, or even a Scorpion tube body.

Updated the first post to a "prettier" layout and my favorite pictures over the past year. I'll make sure to get pictures of the new Spektrum setup when I go crawl this weekend.

Also made a price list for a member on XMF:
