Ask about Tamiya motors for xmods
hi guys ... I want to ask ..
recently i bought a new motor tamiya ultra dash and hyper dash 2, when I try the ultra in my evo xmods. the xmods direct his heat and did not until two minutes played a direct battery runs out and it happenent again when I try hyper dash. so the question is, do I need a capacitor in the motor like the stage 1 stock from xmods? If yes, what the size of capacitors for use in ultra and hyper dash? thanks .. Last edited by TreeFlash; 05-07-2010 at 08:20 AM.. |

Can we get a translation please? I thought I was fluent in most forms of E-Speak, but ****ed if that doesn't give me one helluva headache. I will try my best to help though.
Xmods his heat is high battery eats Boba FET's. Dash hyper not is gift. Need must you upgrade Boba. Last edited by Howlsatmoonlight; 05-07-2010 at 03:57 AM.. |

The IP address is out of a foreign country; I am assuming hard to understand structure is due to a shotty translation software like Google.
Cheers, Kyle.

OK everyone its a simple enough question... can the Tamiya Ultra Dash or Hyper Dash 2 be used on stock electronics as when TreeFlash attempts to use either motor he only gets a few minutes of use from his batteries.
I don't know anything about these motors so do we have anyone with any experience with them who can comment?

Do you know the number of turns on this motor and if there is timing advancement?
If the motor is designed to spin the other way for forward in the Tamiya Vehicles and there is timing advanced on that motor then the brushes will need to be flipped. Does the Xmod go faster forward or reverse with that motor in it?

I have found in the past that Pimp My Mod at www.biline.ca has a pretty informative write up on these Tamiya motors along with some other brands. Nice reference in my opinion.

The hyperdash2 can be run in a stock xmod evo (but you need some caps to reduce motor "noise' rf.
The UltraDash needs an upgraded fet for it draws more power than stock fets can handle. |

You should also know that the hyper dash is a slot car motor so in is designed to run off of 12 volts

I've run thew hyperdash with carbon brushes and neo. magnets and it was quite fast. I installed a cap on it though, so I'm not sure about radio interference.
It was very noticeably faster than the stage 2. I've never tried running it on less than a 2x2 stack though, I didn't have anything with stock fets at the time.
