Default Project: Saleen Makeover and Track car

I am now making a track car. It is the saleen mustang with my hs-55 evo chassis. The saleen is the only body that fits. I am trying to make the roush mustangs front bumper and maybe the side panel windows. I just started this project a couple days ago(with the exception of the hs-55)

mods:hs-55 and body work
plans: finish body work, bearings, hand wind a motor and drive

roush mustang:
http://www.mustangevolution.com/mustang-pictures/cat38/

before:

during:

I have alot of work to do but i hope it turns out well. I am using double sided tape instead of the electrical tape and i think i have the servo centered as best as i can right now.

Any paint or body work suggestions?

thanks all comments welcome.

thanks. Just unscrew the rear bumper and then there are 2 more screw for the spoiler. unscrew them and then with a flat head screwdriver carefully pry off the wing. It comes out. it is a little tricky tho.

Update:

I am not going to do the roush side panel windows way to small to work with. I am going to attempt to do Knight rider's hood. I painted the hood white so i can put some sharpie on and dremmel to make it functional. Maybe use the police light under the hood? idk yet.I am waiting for the putty to dry on the bumper so i can start sanding and get it smooth before start the lip of the bumper.

thanks.

edit:
I really like the hs-55 for the servo. It is so much smoother and faster. great servo on the evo. really improves the handling.

Thanks. The saleen was the only body that would actually clip on to the chassis with the hs-55.

i know alot of saleen projects just like the camaros a couple weeks ago lol. Maybe. i don't know yet.

update:
no pics for now, sorry.

i spent most of my time on the front bumper. I got everything symetrical or evened out. Now i need to smooth it and get the imperfections out before i start the lip.

I started the hood. I cut some holes so it can be functional and puttied it for some extra strength. Since i have no idea for the police lights.until now. I might mount the police lights under the hood to get a undercover cop too.i don't know yet or change the leds to red. and put it under the hood like real knight rider.

Well the hs-55 was acting up. . When i turned right it was fine. I turned left and it kept turning or trying to turn or the other gears kept turning, which would lead to buying new gears every week. SO i opened up the servo and got my old broken one open too. Turns out the 3rd larger gear(not counting the pinion and the really small one next to the motor) had lost a tooth lol and i had lost a tooth the same time (about). I got that fixed, i went to hobbytown usa to get some more just incase but i was fine. If they karbonite gears i would have swaped them but no. Hitec website is down. and i got the servo almost centered. my plan: take out the servo from the tierod. Switch the double sided tape and center it with the horn on it. get the wheels as centered as possible then put the servo in and you would be a lot more centered.

I will get some pics in the next day.

I am trying to update you guys every couple days or so.

today:
still working on smoothing out and fixing all imperfections on the front bumper. I started working on the knight rider hood again. I put the scoop in(i guess you would call it a scoop) and it is a pain. It is so messy right now. I might need a new saleen hood(pm me if you have one, i might need one, only time will tell) and one side higher than the other.

Not much really new. Just waiting for some armatures to come in so i can make a decent track car motor...

thanks.

Update:
I fixed my servo!! a gear lost a tooth. I got my armatures in, to make a good motor. start winding soon. Well i don't need a new hood!!! I am glad. i got it to work i am just adding in detail and smoothing it out. The bumper still has a few rough spots.

i just washed the hood and bumper when these pics were taken. so there is some water.

possibly. i don't know about the paint yet. just want to get the body work done.

Update:
No body updates. Chassis updates.

motor:
handwound(almost pattern wound= here i come redsxmodder) 45t slashed(spiral) armature with fat comm in a stock s1 can for now(m1 can or atomic quick release) with the radline stock magnets(little stronger than a stock xmod): fast!! acceleration at least. I don't have a speed checker yet or test drive it out side.can't with a 1mm clearance

chassis: lower suspension top plates with a custom mini z inspired suspension, soft springs.

little more than a 1 mm clearance(front) and about 2mm(rear)= better handling because it is so low. i am going to make it lower. the rear at least

i had a binding problem so i took the whole rear of the car to the sink. I cleaned it out and put the gears/bushings in some olive oil for some grease. works beautifully now.

you can kind of see the springs on the knuckle.

redsxmodder: who's track car is better now? .

thanks all comments welcome.
