Default Big issue, ESC problem?

Haven't had much luck finding answers, hopefully you guys can help me..

I finally got around to soldering TRX connectors to my Novak a while ago, and of course plugged it all in and hooked up some batteries to to a power up test.

It's a **** good thing I pay attention to things, I went to fire it up.. and nothing happened, one of the batteries was so hot I could barely touch it. Only one though, the other was fine.

I triple checked all of my connections, no wires crossed and no wires touching. Tried it with another set of batteries, same thing. Sounds like a short inside the ESC, right?

Not terribly happy about this, the guy that I traded with has pretty much stopped talking to me after I tried to tell him what I think would make this right since it won't work when he said it worked just fine right before he sent it off.

I ended up having to pull the motors and ESC out of the older Maxx just so I could test drive the newer one.

So, now.. I am thinking about doing a single 775 conversion from a Summit to the newer Maxx.. anyone have any input or experience with this?

Also, I'll snap some pics shortly.. got a new Prographix body for the newer Maxx and painted it candy red, looks killer besides a few mistakes. But, this was my first time ever painting lexan so I think I did alright, and body and paint only cost $30.

No, I soldered the connectors to the ESC, the batteries have several runs on them from after getting the connectors soldered, and I've continued to use them after the one got really hot when plugged in to the ESC, they all still work just fine.

He probably dunked the ESC in water, then didn't do anything, and trying to resell it.

that or its a defective esc, or maybe it had fets that were burning up and died(if it's a FET esc)
