Default January "Muscle Car" COTM my dad's Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Spider

Even though im already pretty far along, i decided to start a project thread for my Chevy Monza 2+2 Spider. I'm going to try and replicate my dad's prized 1st car! It had a custom paint job, but he kept the Spider decal on the hood. I started with a promo model, hacked it apart, than got it to fit. then i took the spoiler from the Firebird BK, cut it in two places, than re-attached it. it still need a once-over with a Dremel, but it still looks pretty nice. anyways here's some pics. hope you like them!!

Here's some (poor) photos from way back when it was new!

Here's the car, compared to a different year promo model

Wow your dad's Monza was nice. Yours would look really cool if you did it up with all of the same details, louvers and all

Thanks! he really loved that thing! it was in cherry condition too! well, that is until he let my mom drive it... she was trying to cross a two-lane county highway(thank you MNDOT!) to try and get home since her van was out of gas. all i can say is that she was fine... not so much the car. bent the heck 'outta that frame! my dad decided to turn it into a pro-street dragster, and it was coming along really nicely... then the divorce... now he cant put any money into his beloved car what with trying to pay off the house!

yeah, thats the big debate. im not sure about the louvers though. ill try, but no guarantee!

OUCH, tough break on the Monza. Those are not easy to find nowadays.

I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done. That blue almost looks like the same shade I used on my Corvair. Are you going to clear coat it? If not, DEFINITELY make sure that you polish the paint with a good automotive scratch remover. That kind of paint tends to dry with a "rough" look to it, but the scratch remover really helps to smooth it over and get a nice luster going. Clear coat would be ideal for a wet look, though.
