EVO has better EB(a think a lot better)for some reasons:
servo has wider range
has 2 plugs for neons/lights
can handle a bit more current
you don't have to take off many parts to change pinion/1st gear
the CG is lower in the EVO,due to the position of the batteries.
the only thing that is better on gen1,If I remember well,is that when put alloys suspension, the gen1 is better.

Gen1 was the first generation, so the Evolution "should" have quite a few benifits over the Gen1.

Electronically:
Turning radius in the Evolution is far supirior to the Gen1's.
FETs on the Evolution can handle more amp loads, and won't fry as easily.
There are two external PCB ports for underglow neon, and lights; when Gen1 only had one.
Terminals instead of a plug for motor connections.

Cosmetically:
There are less amount of screws. (Four? as opposed to Fourteen in the Gen1.)
Center of gravity is a lot lower due to the position of the batteries on the bottom of the chassis as opposed to the sides of the chassis.

Problems..:
There are quite a few problems with both, although. The Gen1's steering isn't the greatest, but you can fix that with a resistor. The Gen1's chassis setup is a lot easier to manipulate with because it is an "open" design, unlike the Evolution where everything is enclosed.

Due to the day in age you have to have the Gen1 bought used, unless you're lucky to get one new in the box. The evolutions can be basically found at any RadioShack, including upgrades; where as the gen1 you can't find many upgrades still in the store.

the difference is that evo owns!!!!! jkjk umm its just better overall like the servo is better and the range is better and as Donziikid said gen 1 is fist generation and Evo is the second generation for xmods so the chassis are different and evo's is improved.

i prefer the gen1 just as a personal preference. my advice would be to take a look around the site and do some comparisons for yourself. the chasis' are vastly different and you will be able to tell that simply by looking at them. the electronics are also quite different, and in my personal opinion, both of them are terrible... difficult to work with and have to be modified heavily to get any decent results out of them. but they are a lot of fun, and for someone just getting into R/C you can't go wrong with either the gen1 or the EVO.

Shameless plug... if you want to get into a gen1 xmod, I have a few modified gen1's that are for sale that run and look like new (only faster), check it out!

haha, always trying to sell ur products, i would buy one, only i don't have the cash, or the ablility to buy things online, as in i can't buy things online, or sell.

the evo was simplified, not made any better. true, the servo turns better and the stock motor is faster, but the trade off is that there are a couple extra grams of weight and it's super low (as in the ground effects aren't so happy in an evo)
