Default Intro + Battery question

Hi,

I'm new to Xmods, will receive an EVO Firebird 1967 by mail in the next few days (had to order from US, no RS yet in Québec). Also ordered AWD.

About 2 weeks I jumped into Xmods reading everywhere and got addicted that I took the plundge. In fact I wanted a RC car to make our young twins run in the house, they like to try catching an object. And it will also make me happy like a kid again. :-)

I plan to use rechargeable batteries. Yet the NiMh I have are some Sanyo's 900mAh. How long I may expect to run on that? Are there any higher capacity?

I don't have it in hand yet and I may be interested to add a cell or two...

Thanks.

No rechargeable? I own a MH-C401FS http://www.mahaenergy.com/store/item.asp?idproduct=178 charger and would like to use rechargeable batteries. I know I will drop form 1.5v to 1.2v and there is some weight loss but yet I don't race. Just want to distract the baby twins.

I have bought Rayovac Ic3 charger and bateries from walmart here in Chicoutimi Qc. I run over 30 min easy and the best part is they charged up in 15 min. only.

Nice.. I'm on the Rayovac website trying to find how many mAh they are rated. I guess it's 900mAh.

And I see the 15 minutes charge time is with their special charger so I wonder how long it would take to fast charge in the one I got.

Thanks for the tip, I will take a look at them. I only have 3 Sanyo's (came in a special pack with the AA) so I will get a 4 pack of another brand and use them for the RC car.

The thing with Rayovac IC3 is that they only fast charge the ic3 battery and by the way they are 750 mAh. I have bought from AtomicMod some 900mAh and for the moment they are not better then my ic3.With the ic3 chrager i can charge those 900mAh but not at fast it takes about 6 hours. If I have known all of that I would only by the Rayovac Ic3 charger and battery and forget about the other atomicmod battery.

Oh and did you get your evo firebird yet?

Rechargeables are the way to go. I use a Duracell 15min Charger with 900Mah Duracell Batteries. I get plenty of run time and alot more punch than a regular alkaline.

Except they are running closer to 1.2v instead of 1.5v so X 4 I guess it makes a difference on the speed but I'm not into racing yet.

Yeah I read after I ordered a few message abot that fact. But I don't think (and hope) it will be that bad because otherwise there would be a notice on the AWD package or something.

And like I said, for now I mostly want to pull a charge so thw twins can have fun trying to catch the thing.

Depending how much fun it will be for me, I may go into furthur mod and look for another motor. So many option I found on pimpmymod.com so I will have to decide if I go with the official stage 2 motor or another one. I think it will be a difficult choice.

Not until Radio Shack will be back in town... they are back in Canada but mostly in Ontario. Soon you will be able to order and they will ship to Québec.
