Bondo's Tutorial.
BriansModelCars "How to Lay Down a Perfect Paint Job.
Vertical Customs Paint Tutorial.

All three of these are great tutorials. I've read the countless times and have followed them to a T, just like many other members here have.

It's all in the masking and the layers. If you can get good crisp lines with masking and get the layers correct, that'd be one heck of a paintjob.

If you don't want to practice on a body, go to your local hobby shop and pick up some sheets of plastic/styrene. Primer them just like a body and the paint will act almost the same as it would on the Xmods body's plastic. Try that instead of a body you'll have to sand back down and try over.

What? I'm not good enough for you?

Lol. I'm sure he'll respond when he stumbles across this thread and he'll respond with some textbook response that'll blow everything I just said out of the water.

Just a tip - use Tamiya products. The paint works very well for me, and the masking tape is great.

That's not going to be the easiest paintjob to pull off, so practice, practice, practice.

If you want a perfect job on it, I'd give it to an experienced painted, like Bondo...then you know you'd get what you wanted.

Bondo is a little busy with personal life right now. If I remember correctly, he mentioned on XMF that he is/was in the middle of moving. Give him some time.

Tamiya paints range from approximatly $2.00 to approximatly $6.00; depending on what type of paint you get, laquer or acrylic, or where you purchase them from. My hobby shop sells the spray lacquer (spray paint cans) for $4.00 while they sell the acrylic jars (airbrush paint) for $2.50.

Spray cans are 3 fl.oz, while the jars are 1/2 fl.oz. Just depends on what you need to use the paint for and which style you wish to lay it with.

I use testors spray cans. They are cheap and easy to get by me. The tamiya paints are very great i have heard. If you can go with tamiya paints go with them.

Tip: If you go with testors. When/if you use their gloss black. Shake it up really well. For whatever reason i never get a smooth coat. I shack it like crazy and forever.

As for the paint job. That would be really cool if you ever get around to it. All i have to say is good luck and i would love to see it.

To get the stars the same shape. Go on google images and find a star like that or that exact image and print it. Are you going to try to make a body kit like that too?
