Default Battery Site

Dont know if you guys have seen this site. From what I have read on Atomic Mods about batteries It seems you could make your own battery packs from these..

Any reason why you coulden't.

My thought was to use two of the 3.7v 850mAh put in parallel to get 8.4volts. I know the motor would overheat before the battery ran out but if you had a big motor and FET upgrades woulden't the extra current give the car some more umph than the 500mAh ones Atomic sells? Plus, check that price out.

Tell me what you guys think.

forgot to post the site. They have Lith's with alot more mAh capacity than the 500's Atomic sells. Cheaper too.

Your math was a little off. The two would be 7.4 volts not 8.4.

its not really hard to make your own pack if you know what you are doing and good at soldering because heating up a lith battery is really dangerous but other than that ya its a way better deal to make you own

his math was kinda off but then kinda on cause mathmaticaly it is 7.2 but in real life they are charged higher then called for so it usaly ends up at about 8.4v+-

and soldering on liths is dangerous but the simple solution is order them with the tabs then u just use srink tubeing to get them on properly

True, but then again the 3.6/3.7 are also not truly that voltage either, but you make a good point either way. I was just saying that even though many times the amphours and voltages surpass what they claim, they are still technically only considered 3.7 or whatever. Good advice too on getting the ones with tabs.

in parralel is good for a higher mAh rating seeing
as the stock Xmods are in series meaning that
if you were to run x4 800mAh batteries then it
has an output of 800mAh. But if it is in parralel
as mentioned you are raising all the fields dramatically.
so yea....x2 800mAh in parralel would = 1600mAh bringing
you a much larger run time and morer punch from your
batt-pack. But also as mentioned be careful of this mod
as it could cook your electronics if not done correctly.
many factors take place here such as what motor are
you running with, or have the FETs been stacked?
(FETs stacked means more amp draw from motor)

tricky...tricky! ill leave mine with the x4 800 mAh = 800mAh

http://www.powerstream.com/Produz13.htm

This site has some good information on making and designing packs. It explains a few things about size, shape, performance, etc. Check it out if you were thinking about making your own.

If your car is still somewhat on the "heavy" side I would suggest going with the 4, it gives it more of the muscle car type feel. If you really lighten your car, going with two batteries can make a difference, especially if you are looking to do short races.
