Default Roof Scoop to Motor?

I was thinking I used to have a hood scoop directly to my intake in my old honda (real car lol) so why not make a hood scoop to go driectly to the motor. It would help cool the car probably and it may look pretty good. If anyone has ideas that would be awesome. Once its done I'll be sure to post up pictures.

Check this out. It is kinda similar to what you want just a little more involved.

I would say do the full exhaust, but if that is a little to much, just stick with the roof scoop.

Both maybe? Though the straw idea is sketchy because how does the air go through the motor?

Anything is possible but you have to remember that the scale you are working at means that you really aren't going to get any gains in terms of functionality or performance, the XMOD is never going to be traveling fast enough to force air through at high enough speeds to produce a cooling effect so you may as well just install the scoop for looks rather than performance.

If this is something you want to do then I suggest drilling a hole in your roof and push a small tube (straw would be fine) through it, then from the small tube figure out a way to make the funnel opening bigger and bigger, i.e.

In concept similar to this regular old funnel but reversed so the small hole is poking out the roof, ideally of a softer material so you can mold it to the shape you require.

Feed the larger end to your motor and place it directly over the top of it, if you are using an XMOD motor you might want to drill holes in the top of it so this new source of airflow has somewhere to go.

Finally angle the smaller tip of the air funnel so you can place the scoop over it, install the scoop and then seal it tightly so that air has nowhere else to go except down the tube.

I just hate to thing of the drag you are going to get from a scoop and a hole, it will probably end up making the car slower.

Ya I agree with TheB1gDude. The increased drag and ,weight as well, won't be worth it. Unfortunately the air intake idea is something everyone wants to do to their Xmods but it is next to impossible to get notable increased performance.

The idea is far more feasible when you goto larger scales 1/18, 1/10 for example plus it is easy to incorporate as you are working with lexan bodies.
