what are the long hex screws called, they are hexagonal steel with a threaded shaft stickin out the end, the sort of thing you get with custom chassis to put them together, im only askin cos i need to buy some to raise the body on the monster xmod truck im makin and i dont know what they are called so i dont know what to ask for

they are called standoffs. an easier and cheaper way of doing it would be like i did on my titan crawler and a few others.

i thought there was a tutorial on it, but i can't find it. basically you get longer 2/56 screws and some nuts.

hey thanx zippo, thats a better way as i can custom raise the hight to my specs, just be simply introducing the long bolts to mr dremel

the tutorial was lost on XMS when the site got hacked, along with lots of other good information that never made it back. that's why i like our new admin, at least they know that it's important to back up and that this site is a popular target for mediocre hackers for some reason.

Yeah, they are right. That is a good Tut by Suicide star, and that's how I do it. Here are a couple other options. I use aluminum tubing with a styrene tube inside, then I cut the head of a Long xmod screw off and stick it inside with some CA glue. The only benefit with this method is that, the screws are the same size as the holes in the xmod so you don't strech them out, the RS 2/56 screws are a bit larger so there is no going back becasue they will en-large the hole.

It is the same way I make shocks, but instead of using the 2/56 screw, use a long Xmod screw. Here is a link to the Tut.
