Default Xmod/Micro-T electronics replacement

Xmod/Micro-T electronics replacement

I switched a micro-T electronics in my xmod and here is what you get.
Changeable crystals
Lighter weight
Much more throttle response
Better steering response
Sharper turning radius
You can upgrade the controller to other high end controllers I think

If anyone is wondering why I have the extra plug it is for the 6 cell mod.
The main reason of this picture is to show what color wires goes to the xmod servo wires and motor. This is just a quick solder job so it might look messy but it is all cleaned up now.

I used the original micro-T servo wire.

I can tell you that when I bought this xmod I was planning on upgrading it to make it really race worthy. But then when I got home and put the batteries in and started to drive it I was very disappointed in the controller and the reaction time. But now that I did this upgrade I am on my way to getting some bearings and some other aluminum parts and upgrades. This mod does so much for this little xmod. By the way I had mini z before and now my xmod surpasses the feel of the mini z in its stock form.

why don't you use the stock battery holder? that would lower the center of gravity from what you have now and make it have better handling.

whats with the bats under the board then?

and videos of this thing in action? Im curious how you can use the stock xmod servo, with a different board and think you have better turning results? i would think that would come down to the servo, not the board powering it.

Nice idea. If you want to use another Transmitter, you would need to change the reciever and since the Micro T uses a ESC/Receiver combo, you would need to buy a different receiver too.

i noticed that the batts are under your board, making this a non-race worthy xmod. it would flip too much. put the batts in the stock position is what i meant.

My guess is that's the two batteries that he's using for the 6 cell mod. Although he should go for Li-po or Li-ion, he's decided to go for the cheaper method of 6 celling it.

Looks nice and clean! If your really going to make this baby raceworthy, get back to a 4 cell setup, or at least a 2s2p lithium setup, as the EVO really needs to keep all the weight at the bottom...

Later,

This thing is not race ready yet read the post. I was going to make it race ready and thought the Rx and tx were crap so i decided against it. But now that I changed the electronics this thing will be race ready when I am done with it. And as far as the turning being better my micro t TX allows me to input the steering to get Sharper turning radius. better electronics = better control and response. I'm not sure if a video will do justice because you will have to control this thing to feel the better response. And I will go back to 4 cell until I get the 2 lith batteries. thanks all for your replies.

Meh, I'll take Mini-Z.
There's just not enough travel and throttle control to race with or do anything with with a Micro-T/Xmod conversion (did the first gen1 conv), and it's cool, but it's better spent using a Iwaver or Mini-Z Electronics. MUCH HIGHER quality if you go mini-z.

Looks good though.

Well done. *High five*

Are you gonna cover the exposed servo wires?

No the wires will not be cover, trying to make it lighter. As far as Mini Z they are great but if you have a xmod and a broken micro t then this mod is great. I had 3 mini z before. But xmods are nice because if you need a part just run down to radio Shack. As far as mini z their is none to be found here in Puerto Rico.
