looks very tuner/rally ish. i guess that's where the present day WRXs get it from.

just lower it 2-3 inches and it'll look 10x better.

I buy a beater every week? where? there are 4 cars in my driveway, this one's been here a week, the red 4runner about a year, the white 4runner 2 years, and I've had the loyale for almost 6 years. apparently I have way more cars that I knew about!

the ER27 is rated at 145hp and 156ft/lbs, IIRC. pretty good for a stock, N/A, AWD, 2800lb car!

took it for another drive this morning, god it's fun to drive!!

I will respect any member or person that will put alot or anything into a beater. I wouldnt say that is the perfect car, not going near that Subaru wagon that you have or had.

To me it may not look that good, but what really matters is that you like it, right?

hummerh4, wow, you actually aggree with SPR. Thats the first. This might be the first thread you didnt try to bash him in.

Give us (the members who actually care) updates as you work on it.

Gentlemen, lay off Numbchux. If he wishes to purchase what you consider a "beater" each and every week, by word let him. It is his money which he rightfully earns at a job. It is not your money; you should have no say in how he spends it.

Next person to bash Numbchux for purchasing a "beater" will be given infraction points. Learn to talk nice to each other or keep your trap shut.

Cheers,
Kyle.

Oh, as well, Chux, great pictures.

Uhm, buying old cars is bad? Don't tell me that!

It looks like an ugly 1st try at the SVX, but who cares eh? Old cares are fun. Don't have to tip toe it like a new car, worried about rock chips and the like. You can go out, tear it up, build it back cheap, and keep rocking.

To those who talk about buying beaters has never had fun with a cheap *** car.

Plenty to get in trouble with. 140hp and 180 ftlb is all I need to play with in the FB. And it's 3200 lbs I've done more offroading in it than most pickup trucks see in their life times.

are you people retarded? read the specs...a 2.7 flat 6...that's some great torque and horsepower for a car this small, not to mention it's AWD, it probably handles better than most of your cars. nice find IMO and i like the way it looks, i've honestly never seen one before and didn't even know they existed. got any pics of the suspension? it sits high as hell for a car that small. i'd get it running 100% fix up the bodywork and call it a day. i think people have skewed perceptions of what a project is and what a beater is. anyways, nice car, especially for the price

edit: and for the record, my beater is an 07 silverado and my grocery wagon is an 08 civic si...it doesn't matter if it's a new or old car, it's all in how you tune it and take care of it.

beater: a car, truck, or van that you don't give a sh!t what happens to.

since he cares about that car, it is not a beater.

hmm... never seen one of these. Kind of looks like an old Buick Reatta which is also a neat car.

"3800" V6 with 165–170 hp (123–127 kW) and 210–220 ft·lbf (285–298 N·m) of torque
18mpg city 27mpg hwy

yea, I actually have some old air struts/shocks in the shed. I'll take a couple pics in the morning.

it already runs 100%. I've put almost 300 miles on it since monday when I reset the trip computer (at an average of about 20mph!). if it weren't for the extra weight of the larger motor, it probably would handle as well as my wagon, but the distribution is thrown off a bit by that big motor.

and yea, plenty of power to get me in trouble! good thing it's got cruise control, or it'd be very hard to keep at 30mph.

right now it looks like a peace of sh!t. but i love
it. ya its 36 years old but you get so many looks
when you drive down the road.

I did a little reading on the XT6. Like the Reatta it had a lot of features and technology in it for its time. They might have even been direct competition for there class. Two very cool and unique cars.

What are the sliders used for found in this picture next to the emergency brake?
