Default wire uppgrade (i think i broke it)

well the other day i got a little board so i decided that i should run some 16 gauge wire in the car. when i went to drill the hole i think i made it to big. i used a 1/16" drill bit. and it took away all of that metal on the board where the wires are at. i tried several times toresolder those wires and test the batt. and wires and every thing seems to be working but when i turn it on it dosen't work. So do you think i broke it.

well, u need to have the wire thru on both sides no jus on top of board, but it has to go thru and u sooder on top and bottom, its possible u use a drill bit to big for it and ruined the connection on the board, but im not 2 sure, or u may have killed a resistor or sumthing wen u were soddering, i hope this helps ya, Andrew

Yea, a 1/16th bit is too big, even though it's the smallest one i've seen made. It's even the size RS gives you in the board maker kit.

You're supposed to use a precision drill kit, like the one that's sold at RS for 15 bucks. A normal drill bit is way too big. You probably ruined your board.

I did the exact same thing the first time I tried doing a wire upgrade on my board so dont feel bad cause a new board wont cost you too much but examine the board real good cause there is a slim chance you can scrape away some of the circuit coating right near the holes and connect it there. I have salvaged a few boards this way but sometimes when its dead there is no bringing it back. Best of luck to you

Same hope for you here. I haven't seen it, but if you cracked off the corner it might be salvageable.

DON'T. You can buy a spare board straight from RS for a lot less.

You can get the receiver board/ESC combo for UNDER 10 bucks via special order from RS.

Why would you need 16 guage wiring for an Xmod? I've used 20 and that's big enough. You must be going for the holy (expletive deleted) factor?

senseless......
