Default Project Let IT Snow

I have 3 or so other projects going on, but whats one more Well with all the snow we got the other days, and the other projects i have seen around i thought i would build my own snow truck. i started with the wheels, i wanted functional snow chains.
I experimented with a couple different types and sizes of chains and found one that would work good, and my hands were able to work with. i was going to make all of them last night, but this one took a lot longer than expected to get to this stage, and its not done so they will be a slow moving ordeal.

heres what i have so far

thanks, it took a while to get everything ok and the spacing worked out etc. now i just have to make some mini bungee cords to hold tension on the chain in the center. might work on that tonight.

Nice! I'm guessing you drive the larger scalers because us guys with bigger ones use snow chains. What size chains did you use because I need to do it to my Micro DT.

someone needs to do a "Mr. Plow" from the Simpsons series. It'd be hilarious to see Homer cruising around in an XMods plowing snow.

lol, i might start mass producing them, will have to wait and see though.
i added a chain in between the links that were there, but i had to kinda revamp them as i tried for a while to replicate the amount of chains and i couldn't get it to latch around the wheel, so what i came up with and it only took 10-15 minutes to make one was 8 chains per, a little better than the original wheel, but not as many as the second one, but it should work fine. i ran out of chain on the third wheel though. so i need to go get some more. heres what i came up with, o yeah i had to do the wide axle upgrade, so i might try it with the 180 motor to see how well it will scoot along.

well, it seems like theres always some hold up with my projects. i went to hobby lobby and they are out of the chain to make these. which really sucks. i am going to get something to eat and check walmart here in a bit. i took it out with just the 3 chains and it was a beast on the packed snow and ice. the other snow is still to powdery and these dig in too quick for it to go anywhere but down.

alright, got some chain, a little bit different style, but it will work until they get the others back in stock. and its getting to only take about 10-15 minutes to make them.
and i got a short video, here she be. mind you its almost 11 at night but still can see the awesome power she has.

that is too cool! I saw some air in there too! LOL, seems as if the motor has too much power...you need some light, fluffy, loose snow, rather than the packed ice that the chains are shredding. Snow might give even better results.

watch the second video again then. he went through some loose snow, it just dug into it and didn't move. and there is no such thing as to much power but nice looking xtruck you got there, i want it
