Where were you?

i was in 4th grade, got home, TV was on, my mom was doin' laundry, and glued to the tv. it was scary because i recognized the twin towers. i had been up to the top in both of them that past summer, and taken pictures on one of the middle floors. i still have those pictures...
i havent been back, and i can't imagine how it's like without those two giant buildings and instead, an empty, rubble filled lot... i was just up there a few months before.

I think I was in fourth grade.
I was completely passed out when the teacher next door ran in and opened the door and put on the news.
The only shock effect it had on me was my nap ending so quick,
and right when I fell asleep good too.
I was tired/lost the entire day.

i had just woken up at this chicks house i spent the night with and went downstairs for a drink and it was on tv. i had a friend in the military on leave and he was callin me, freakin out, and shortly after went for active duty.

Last week my mom and sisters came over to the US for a short vacation and went over to ground zero, I just remembered that whilst there they met a construction worker who was kind enough to go inside the perimeter fence and take some behind the scenes photos, they have a bunch but I think these are the best as they give you a idea of what is missing and the scale of the project to rebuild:

when i get home i'll see if i can scan a picture that we have from a sailing trip, after being on the ocean for 7 straight days on a 70 footer doing the "around the world race" we finished in in new york harbor at 7 a.m. and the first thing we saw was the sun rising right between the two towers it was an amazing sight. first thing when i get home i'll see if i can find it and take a picture.

I believe I was in eight grade when this happened. I remember that I had stayed at home 'sick' that day and my mom came running down stairs and woke me up. She had told me that one of the Twin Towers had been struck in New York and being half asleep, I immediately thought that this was some sort of mafia attack. She turned my tv on and after sitting there for a few minutes, the second tower was hit. My heart goes out to anyone that had a friend or loved one that was lost on that tragic day.

I was in the first grade and I was at home because I had a broken leg. My mom didnt let me watch it when I got up but she told me what was going on.

we were living in portland, OR...i was 27 or so...took place at 530 our time...i was getting ready for work, turned on the TV for the first plane...woke my wife up cus i had a bad feelin...she remembers me sayng wake up or else you are going to sleep thru history...and i guess the rest was/is...spent the rest of the day trying to get ahold of our NY friends...we still have some friends who left NY that day and still have never been back...

at that time i was sergeant in medical service of the german armed forces and on maneuver preparing for KFOR.

the messages arived as we got back to our barrack after a 36h-drill.

we all were shocked and we were going on alert...
