Dead Ipod?

Its never a good thing when you pick up your 32gb ipod touch and the screen is flashing random colors, refuses to do anything, and you suddenly notice a stream of baby drool leaking out of the data port..

So either it got wet or the battery just exploded....

How old is it? Factory warranty still an option?

I doubt the warranty would cover the damage, even if its not too old, and I have had it awhile.

After drying it out, its not registering the pc connection any longer, and won't power on. Sucks, as it was my lifeline to email, the net, my e-trade portfolio, etc. My laptop just isn't convenient to carry around when traveling with my daughter during the day.

Oh well, after raising 4 dogs, 2 wolves, 4 horses, and a horde of other animals, I am used to destruction And it was honestly my own fault for not paying attention to what she was doing.

They are not very hard to get apart if you want to try that route and see if you can dry it even more. I've had quite a few iPhone 3gs apart with decent success.

when i had my 2nd gen nano i fell in the lake with it... it was doing the same thing you itouch was dointg, i just gave up and left it on a shelf for like 3 months, and it worked fine

My son destroyed 3 iphones and cracked his mothers screen but when he tossed it into the toilet I put it in a bag of rice and let it sit in the bag for two days and powered it up and it worked fine. Just a thought to try out.

+1 do what he did with the rice and what ever you do dont press any buttons on it until you let it sit for at least 2 days

I have it setting in rice, but I am not hopeful. Unfortunately when I first noticed it, the screen was weirding out, all white with a thick vertical black bar, then it crashed (It was about this point I noticed the drool). Also the lower portion of the ipod was incredibly hot to the touch, which makes me believe something got drool-crossed.
