Default Project "XMS" GT-R: Part Duex

Another one of the projects out of my Summer 09' Project List is the "XMS" GT-R. For those of you who don't remember, AznKevin4eva had the original Project "XMS" GT-R. In a trade not too long ago, I picked up this GT-R, and a couple other things from Kevin. Initially, though it may not look like much, after a short period in time, the XMS Graffiti letters grew on me. i really appreciated the work done by kevin on this. I was half tempted to just leave it be, but seeing that this was my first GTR I had to do something.

True to my word, i carefully traced the XMS letters with a marker and tracing paper. I promised Kevin no matter what this new GT-R is in his honor and creativity. So With the traceouts, I created stencils, these stencils will be for the future paint job. Once done, I proceeded to sand the rest of the body, and started with some putty. Along with my Z, I sanded the GT-R tonight, so here's the project.

This GT-R's body kit, is inspired out of pro-street. Some of the design aspects will be incorporated into my project, but the kit you're about to see will NOT be the exact kit going onto this GT-R. The Airdam is just about the only certain thing... Enjoy

Those are my screen shots, below is my putty work thusfar

As you can see, I'm going to need to apply more to the both sides (the left especially), but the Airdam is taking shape. Color scheme might be that black on white, i think its going to be gloss black XMS letters on Pearl White GT-R... we'll see, Stay tuned....

hey, not everything needs the stickies! (j/k) I kind of like the clean look, but then again, it needs something.

Cool so far, putty work seems to be coming along nicely.

pretty neat. you should make it all blue with a few splashes of orange and XMS on the doors. that would look great IMO.

Update #1:

So I finally got time to touch this up again, I cleaned up some of the existing putty work and dremeled a bit more into the shell, putty just got put on so here's a preview of what imma clean up tomorrow or monday.

Had some aluminum piping, so i cut small pipes and drilled/sanded the stock exhaust to allow the pipes fit inside to change up the exhaust a bit. you can see the pipe offset in the 2nd pic, its small but suttle and looks different.

Added more putty to the front bumper work, once this is sanded theres some light modding to go and the front will be done.

Dremeled out the side vents in the bumper, then I added putty to work the vents out.

I hope once the putty dries that this will be almost done. I'm not gonna do much more to this, I'm considering changing side skirts to something moderate but I dont know yet.

Update #1b: Sanded

Tried to get it as close as possible, its not horrible at all, just a lil rough and uneven on the symmetry. Still needs some more putty work but the Airdam is more or less there. Enjoy (pleanty of angles and shots)

Nice work, the halos will certainly set it off from the rest. Did you have luck sorting out your decals?

I believe it was Skysthelimit on his marshmellow camaro. There were a couple other halos since, but this is the first on a GTR...

Yes, SkysTheLimit as far as I'm aware made the first set of halo's, and it was on his camaro. These halos are a variant of his tutorial that he made. (i've never seen other halo lights surg, but i'd like to see how they turned out)

Thanks, If you look at the picture with the putty on it, the lights are in there already. It's really interesting how the car looks stock with em, unless you look really close you can't see the halo housing inside the stock headlight bucket.

As for the decals, I don't have a great color printer, so i never got around to trying too much. I want to make some but idk how well they'll come out, thanks again for you help with those.

EDIT!!!
Before i forget, Taiwanesekid had the happy ball, and SkysTheLimit has the sad ball, well Only I HAVE...

The ANGRY ball

I can't remember who else did them, but I window shop a lot of forums.

You might just give Kinkos a call...see if you brought your own speciality paper in if they would run it. Also ask if they are using Xerox equipment to print color copies, if so, let me know and I will tell you how to format it for the optimal print depending on the model (probably a dc3535, WCP3545 or WC7345).
