Default Weird Gen.1 problem

I purchased a gen.1 xmod on ebay the other day. It came today and the chassis is stock with no upgrades. Well I put some regular rechargeable batteries in it and tried it out. It drove fine but then the batteries died. I took the batteries out and swapped them with another fully-charged set of rechargeable batteries. I turned it on, the servo centered itself, but the motor would not turn. I swapped the motor out with another one and i tried it again. The servo centered itself again but the motor would not turn. The second time the batteries got hot and seemed like they died. I checked the board and the fets are fine. There is no binding at the gears either. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? What is causing the batteries to get hot?

The main problem is the batteries are getting hot and in return loosing their charge. What could that be?

exact same thing happened to me before. check the board and make sure the positive and negative wires that run to the battery holders arnt touching.

maybe a poor solder connection, or frayed wire...

well it seems that the problem is fixed. There was some debris underneath the board, but all is well now. The only thing wrong now is the usual gen.1 servo problems. Thanks for everyone's help.
