So....

After 4 hours of eating Mike n' Ikes, and burning my fingers on the soldering, I finally got the HS-55 servo wired up. Let me say, it works beautifully! I'd say at least 50% better than the stock servo, even on the crappy tx/rx system.

Then, to add to my joy, my package from XI came. In it, was my M1 motor case kit. I popped in a 42t pattern wound, FAT comm'ed arm and soldered on the motor wires. Needless to say, I was nothing short of impressed at the new motor case kit. It is beautiful! Not only that, but it shreds!

Now, the next things on the list are some +3 offset MA-010 rims (butt loads truer than stock xmod rims) to get the rims under the wells of the body (they're a *bit* shallow inside the body right now, lol).




So, the upgrades right now are:
42t pattern wound arm in M1 motor case
Intellect 750mAh high performance cells
Ball-Bearings all around
Relocated Antenna
Atomic 20 degree treads
Hitec HS-55 servo
Metal Lug nuts
Pan Car body

Your ugly, but nobody complains about you...

No really, the chassis is as clean as I can get it. The servo has to stay like that so I can keep the stock electronics.

Updated:

Went shopping a few days ago. Picked up some stuff:

+3 offset MA-010 wheels
+3 offset MR-02 wheels
MR-02/MR-015 stock pinion set
PN 6° radial rcp tread (front) (2)
PN 6° radial rcp tread (rear) (2)
Assorted T-bars
ATOMIC SAS adjustable shocks (MA-010)

Here's a couple mocked up snaps of how she should looks not long from now. I'm going to have to modify the way the stock electronics sit so I can stick the T-plate farther back into the chassis, and shorten up the wheel base. Needless to say, there will be massive trimming in order.

I have a feeling the widened whell base, combined with a stiffer, more aligned rear end will end up with higher stability, and heightened corner speed. Plus, the direct drive system the MR-02 uses cuts the friction in half.






I also like how the wheels fit under the body better. It looks good

So the car's specs will be looking something like this:
Stock Gen1 ESC & rx/tx
Flex plate/T-bar rear suspension
Stock Independent wishbone suspension in front
Soft red springs
aluminum knuckles
Hitec Hs-55 servo
Team Redmade motor (42t pattern wind, FAT comm, M1 can)
MR-02 rear motor pod
PN 6° radials (front and rear)
PN racing Pan car body
Intellect 750mah batteries (4.8v stock)

Its gonna be a Z killa...!

Red, have you ever thought of getting two 2 AAA holders, and wiring them into your xmod, and mount them with stick tape?
When I had my gen1, I thought the holders wiere big and bulky, maybe using the RS ones could save some room and mass.

If you look at the stock gen1 rear end, you'll notice that the rear swing arm system really pushes the wheels down too much. This causes some nasty positive camber, which effects cornering and running straight lines. Also, the stock drivetrain was heavy, cumbersome, and ineffecient. The MR-02's direct drive system makes sure that every rotation the motor makes is transfered as little as possible, lowering friction, and increasing acceleration and response time.

I'm using the stock gen1 battery trays right now because I can't wire my batteries into packs, due to a lack of a decent pack charger. However, once I source a nice, inexpensive pack charger, I can start making packs, and cut a custom chassis with a lower CoG battery mounting style.

I will probably do a different body, now that the gen1 is actually fitting into it. I think I'll just do another pan car...
