Steering Problems
Got my first XMod this weekend. GT-R. These things are awsome. I am having a problem with the steering. It turns really sharp left which is fine, but the turning radius to the right is substantially more. My brother got the Corvette and his turns sharp both ways. I tore it down and the gears move fine in both directions and the steering horn(I think thats what it is called) moves back and forth fine when it is not connected to the gears. I saw a few old threads on this, but couldn't find one with a positive fix.

It also could be different lengths in the axle stub. I have noticed on some of my xmods that on the left front side, there is a shorter axle stub than on the right side. My GT-R came like it. This does effect the turning radius, turning left is sharper, turning right is a bit wider. I guess one way to fix it would to be use short axle stubs on both sides. I tried this, and it seemed to work fine, but it would make a loud noise when turning right. Kind of like it was rubbing and it caused the car to vibrate a little, but I didn't notice any affect on the performace.

Not a very good picture, but can you see the difference in length? The one on the right is the shorter one. And crap, I just realized that this is for AWD mostly... Well if you have AWD, this could be your problem, but I don't think you said anything about that...OOPS.

I bought the AWD kit when I bought the car. To tell you the truth I can't remember how well it turned before I put the kit on. Where do I find a matching shorter axel stub?

I am pretty sure this is the one you need.
http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/X...ub__10524.aspx Edit: I'm not sure it improves the steering that much though. I haven't noticed BIG improvement on mine, just slightly. Edit to the Edit: I desided to test how its different and there is an improvement. With the long axle stub on the right side, the car does wider circles turning right than it does with the shorter axle stub.

Thanks a lot, I think I will get the shorter stub and see if it makes a difference. Do you have any thought on having to replace the controller with an Evo or Gen I controller?
Edit: Just checked out the link you gave me and it goes to the rear axel stub and not the front. The rear does appear to be shorter than the front, do you know if the front and rear are interchangeable?

Well, my GT-R has an evo board and is using an evo controller atm... That is only because my friend and I have the same frequency, so I had to switch the board out. I have noticed with my Corvette, that the steering alignment with the new controllers has to be corrected more than the old remotes. Mine works fine, but maybe I just got a good one. Since I have gotten my first Xmod, I have noticed there has always been a difference in steering between left and right. If the stub doesn't work, I would try the remote.
Edit: Yes they are. Does your car have two different sizes up front? You might just check, but I have 2 short stubs up front, and they match the rear ones exactly.
