yeah AWD helps a LOT with drifting.its almost imposible to drift without it.it will help with rallying to i guess.

what are the tires made of? how hard/soft are they? what's the tread look like? these are all things to consider. cause it sounds like you're getting much less traction than you should...

the last pic shows the tred numbchux.and im guessing that they are hard cuz i have alot of dicast cars and they all have hard tires.but you could do this little trick i made up.i never tried it yet cuz i have no use for it.heres how,but it may add waight.

1.get your supplies:tires,small nails,wire cutters,superglue,amd mabey tire lock.

2.take your nails and puncture the tires.and if u want put superglue on the nail heads and then put them in.

3.once you have a those in and the super glue is dry cut the nails to the length you want.i recomend 1 cm or so.but make sure the car still turns.


4.then put the tire lock on and put it on the rimm.

this should give you awesome traction.but agian ive never tried it.let me see how it works.

the tires look really good if ur going for a rally look, nice job.
btw, that tutorial really needs some pics when u try it and dont use wire cutters, they're not made for cutting nails. however, they do make nail snips and they cut through brad finish nails very easily

I have no clue what the tires are made of but they are kinda hard so im thinking bout getting a few models with more than one tire option so i can use one and complete the model with the others but i want to find some tires with around the same thickness or a bigger rim. I want some aluminum rims but i dont have anyway to get any right now.

I need some ideas on some thin rubber/plastic to make my wheel wells out of.

well the nails arnt that thick!maby like 5mm wide.and you can cut ALOT of stuff with wire cutters.they are very versitile but most people just use other stuff to cut things.

I don't want to offend anyone, But painting your xmod looks like crap.. Atleast from close up.. Or maybe nobody can paint any good.. dunno..

It just looks like your windows are leaking onto your doors and your cars paint is running onto the windows.. All patchy like it was done with fingerpaints, so many textures, so many diffrent thikneses and lost details replaced with jagged seams.

In my opinion, xmods are best left unpainted, unless you can do a **** fine job and actualy make it look better than when you started. Otherwise you're just making is worse, Obviously.

Again Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings.

Well I'd rather have one that looks as good as everyone elses, than one that looks twice as bad as everyone elses. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making your ride diffrent, belive me.. I'm just saying it's gotta look good.. If it looks diffrent and it's good, then your car could be "better" than everyone elses. If not, it just looks "Worse" than everyone elses.

But hey, if you're happy having a painted red car that looks like crap, when everyone elses is black and ten times better looking...

easy big fella. we know you're a god at painting. now let's try to be a little respectful and friendly.

harley. only badly painted ones will look as you describe. Too many people Handpaint their xmods. which does look pretty bad. but if you spend a little extra money, and get an airbrush, or even some rattle cans, and some careful masking, and it'll look awesome.

i dont mean to rude, and i sure hope i dont hurt your feelings, but have you tried to paint a car, do you know how much work goes into painting a car, and did you notice that theres a few more mods to that "painted red car that looks like crap," do you know how much goes into doing those sorts of things or are you just afraid that you might wreck your car if you tried to do the same. sure some cars dont turn out the best, but the only way you learn is to do it, so before you make some grand generalization about how every xmod that is painted looks like crap, i think you need to look at the big picture, or just try it out for yourself, and even if it doesnt turn out super, you can at least take pride in the fact that it is your car, your work, and your creativity, no matter what anyone else says.

Yeah, I know how to paint a car, I painted flames on my own (real)car. And yeah I know it can be done to look good, but as I was pointing out, every time I see someone post a picture of a painted xmod, it looks like crap.

And calling someone you don't know names, is only showing your true maturity. Maybe try growing up a little before you talk to me again, thanks.

And yeah your paint jobs look not bad, but they arn't that good either. I give you credit for the patterns, but the paint job looks like a $1500 quicky from some eastindian shop. Straight lines, measuring and curves look like they were eyed out. And even with the crapy quality and far away pictures, I can see filled in (once detailed) lines, and fisheyes/particles..

So before you think you're god, make sure your stuff don't stink. You're an amature, it shows. That being said, those have to be the best painted Xmods I've seen online so far. As I was pointing out before, they all look like crap.

The edge, if I painted my car like that, I would burn it or smash it to bits, or repaint it before I would say it was my work.

I paint, I do body work, and lots of other custom work to real cars. I understand what it takes, I know how hard it can be for someone who is new to painting. And I know what looks good and what looks like crap, and I'm sorry, but if that's the best you can do, Stay with the stock body..

I did this on the side of the road last summer in East Vancouver. on the side of the road (commercial st) with cars driving by and people stopping to watch.. There are NO bad lines smudges fisheyes or forign matter. It's a quality paint job, on the side of the freakin road...

Now that I don't mind posting pictures of.

look man i dont want to get into a cat fight, i never called names, and how was i to know that you have had a lot of experience in that field, all i was saying was that you need to look at it from someone elses perspective, mine for instance, someone who doesnt have that much experience and maybe you could help out a little by using some constructive criticism, not only pointing out what is wrong, but giving suggestions about how it could be changed, instead of just calling it crap. and you should be the guy that can help us out, you know what you are doing, and we dont. we are all here because we want to learn about something we enjoy doing and because we want to share what we have created with others, so please stop trashing our work, no matter how poor it may be, cuz you had to start out somewhere too man.

hey, harley, you need to try painting your xmod before you start saying stuff. look I'm not trying to fan the flame or any thing but I'm going to school for auto collision repair I also have experience in painting "real" cars, and I also have tried painting my skyline xmod and I'll admit, it wasnt that great, but I TRIED and from what I've heard thats more than you can say. I'll agree that not every one here is a freaking pacaso of the xmods but every one starts some where.

The wheel base is a little to high for me but the paint looks ok. You could have some work in some spots but over all , Nice !!

Look. If you don't like it, don't do it. but don't insult other peoples work. Show some respect. painting xmods is different than painting real cars. just cause you can mask some nice flames on some POS buick, doesn't make YOU a god either.

If you can't say something nice, or constructive. don't say anything at all

That means, if you don't think it looks very good, and can't suggest something to make it look better, keep it to yourself.
