Sleepers don't always have to look like ****. In my case, a Volvo is seen as a safe slow car that mothers usually drive. No one expects it to be turbo and making 240hp from the factory.

You guys are just kinda naming off random things. Some Factory sleepers:

The W-Body Buick Regal GSX. It was, by all means the grandpa cruiser you see every day. But, the only tale tell signs it was not the gereactic's choice was a set of alloy wheels, a certain two tone, and a subtle spoiler. What it held underneath the hood was the successor to the Buick Regal Grand National, and GNX: The 3.8L V6, with a little supercharger perched on top. At a mild 6lbs of boost, it bumped the stock 180~ horse power up to a torque steering 260+ HP, Just like the Pontiac Grandprix GTP that most everyone knows of. They loved tuning, and the supercharger, like all, was always pully swapped putting it easily under 300 HP. All the while the car rides just likea buick (slightly retuned, but softer than it's GP GTP cousin), and most importantly, looked boring like one too. That is, until all the other guy see's is those full width tail lights:

The 1st gen Caravan Turbo: You think that Omni is a sleeper? Cult import lovers know the Omni Turbo, Laser Turbo, and Charger Turbo. But few know of it's much forgotten K-Car cousin: The Caravan Turbo. Pushing the same turbo 2.2L Chrysler slant 4, the turbo Van came equiped with either the dowdy 4 speed automatic, or the dowdy 5 speed manual. But, what it lacked in finese, it had in tunability. Mechanical boost controllers were easy to hack at, and the slant 4 made great torque with it's longer stroke (compared to it's turbo import competition). Many think these turbo k-cars ran mitsu motors, but it was all american rice. In a wood grain toaster oven on wheels:

Also featured in the 24 hours of Lemons!

Naturally, you don't see many because they usually rust back to mother earth, or fall apart due to horrendous Chrysler build quality.

A sleeper is a car that looks slow but is actually fast. The more people that would assume its slow the better and the more that it exceeds that initial expectation the better.

Not necessarily a sleeper doesn't have to be a pos (though they are imo more funnier, srsly a pos beating something that is nice and clean and looks like the money was spent on tuning and so on), it could just look like a stock vehicle, stock until it burns off the dragway

An Eagle talon isa decent sleeper. I have a turbo AWD talon. Its no sleeper because it has a huge FMIC on it.

The problem with a DSM being a sleeper is that so many people know they can be fast. The only real way you can pull of sleeper is to make a non turbo model fast (or make a turbo model look like a non).

Most people, however, can't tell the difference between the models so easily. So they assume they are all the same.

Non turbo eclipse and talons between 1995 and 1999 actually have the same DOHC motor found in the dodge neons, and I DO NOT mean the SRT-4 lol.

Only 5 out of 20 Eclipse/Talons are turbo, of those 5, one is all wheel drive.

There are no AWD non turbo eclipse/talon. At least not stock.

Tex, the guy I bought my Camaro from had a turbo Dodge minivan, although it wasn't a factory turbo minivan.. it was a normal one hacked up.

I will say, that thing sounded effing sweet with the exhaust off of a diesel truck, and the sound of a turbo spooling.. it definitely would give my Camaro a run for it's money.

He also had a true Grand National GNX.. he now owns an 06 C6 Z06. He's had a few nice vehicles in his day. Too bad my Camaro was the one he learned on.

what i really want to get is a saturn sky redline, and take the redline and turbo badges off of it, hop it up a little more and you've got a 4 cyl that'll walk all over mustangs and what-not.

ideally i would drop an LS2 V8 in it though haha

Sounds like what I want to do. I want to slap a small block Chevy V8 in a reinforced Prius, convert it to RWD, and burn people off the line.

+1 on that, there was a local guy with a wicked fast one.

But there are other cars that utilize the 91 eclipse motor that can make excellent sleepers.

Dodge Colt:

Mitsubishi Mirage:

Chrysler Conquest:

Hyundai Stellar

Now you also have to take into compensation the Nissan Maxima always used the same motor as the Z of the same year... so those can be mighty fine sleepers.

The truest of all sleepers, is this:

Find a real riced out car, and then dump 3K into making it fast. Everyone is so used to the guys that spend money making their cars look fast, that they take them for a joke....every blue moon one of them lives up to their bodywork.

i have to agree with these guys, just find some car that looks slow, preferably an older car as well, and just dump money into the engine of it, and make it as fast as possible while leaving the car body stock/rusty and beat up.
Or what i want to do to my audi...

and Drop a nice 5.7L-6.1L Hemi under the hood and keep the body the way it is. That would be a really nice sleeper indeed.

and stick a into her.

Please note, photos were taken from Google. The Engine is a 440/7.2L Dodge. The rights, are owned by Dodge for the Engine.
The vehicle, is a PoS Toyota Prius to make the world a happy place with everyone driving something that is no better then driving a Scion xB. I mean a lunch box. Rights owned by Toyota for the vehicle.

When you ask "Anyone know any good sleepers?" to be honest with you, a Chevelle now is not considered a sleeper unless it looks like it's on it's about to fall apart on the highway. Take one of those new age Hybrids, or even a Truck and make it into a sleeper. Vans, Trucks, Station Wagons, 5Ton Trucks, all have a terrible Aerodynamic system. Compared to a car, the Car as it has better body lines, and is more "smoother" for pressing itself through the resistance the wind makes on the vehicle, it should be able to move faster through it than a Truck, Van, Stationwagon etc. Make sure you have good paint, no dirt, imperfections in the paint, mashed bugs on the body, dents, dings, whatever to make the body not look smooth, feel smooth. Those will create drag and you will be a little slower instead. The more drag, the slower you will go. The less drag, the faster you will go. Catch my drift?

Sorry, that is a little Aircraft stuff for you guys...

Blade.

Maybe an Isuzu Amigo? It has a 3.2L V6 with 205HP. Not to mention 4WD.
You can add a supercharger and you are set.

0-60 in 8.5 seconds, but the supercharger might change that.

Just pointing out a possible truck.
