Mommy and daddy gives you a car, you'll be driving up curbs, covering the vehicle in scratches, getting daily curb rash, grinding chassis parts over parking lot dividers, etc. If you buy your own car, you feel more responsible for it and take much better care of it.

As for the "you're just about as retarded as he is" comment, you're lucky you're somewhat of a car guy and can somewhat relate, otherwise I wouldn't slapped you with an infraction.

Not always, Texan. I believe it is how you are raised.

I know for a fact that I cannot afford a car right now and my parents are kind enough to either let me use one of their already purchased cars and they get a new one or they buy me a used vehicle for me to work on until I can afford my own car. Either way I know I'll respect my parents vehicles the same way I would a vehicle I purchased because that's the way I was raised; I was always told to respect everything and everyone you come into contact with, regardless of the situation.

There's just more satisfaction out a car you purchase your own vehicle. I understand I won't "love" my parents car when it's "mine", but I'll still show the same amount of care and respect for it as if it were purchased by me.

That's just my $0.02.

Slap me with an infraction just because i know what im talking about, makes a lot of sense. A magazine Racer eh? What the hell is that? But i guess since i'm not part of any car clubs except Texas Nissans, and the fact that i frequently drive my Dad's c6 vette or my friends' s13 with a sr20 black top, or perhaps my other friends s13 and s14 means i have no driving experience or car knowledge nor do i have experience driving a car with power.

Wow. For the first time in a long time I'm gonna have to disagree with you. Though they may be marked with the S14(a) the Zenki and Kouki terms aren't for ricer twats. The 240 guys I hang around with use these terms all the time and they are far from ricers. They're actually the few people I know who actually drift their cars. I've never heard the term s14a or whatever, ever used. Even D1 drivers refer to thier cars as either Zenki or Kouki...so yeah.

I think the Zenki/Kouki and S14(a) terms are a matter of preference, they're both proper terms.

Come to Ontario, you'll understand what I'm talking about Even Civic/Integra guys here with JDM tyTe yO Supra and Evo VIII deck spoilers call 'em by that. They don't know the difference between S14s and S15s, as well as RPS13s and PS13s (hatch and coupe respectively). Many even believe that if they get beat by a 240 in a traffic light race, the 240's automatically got a Skyline engine in it...

As for S14 and S14a's, its what most of my local Nissan club calls it. Many not-so-into-Silvia-cars people, specifically 4WD/AWD and FWD Nissan guys in Aus call it by that too.

S14's aren't very popular due to the fact that they're so much more expensive than an S13 hatch or coupe. Roughly a $5-$7k difference here.

What if I pay them for it?
I want to buy my mom's Subruban.

Also, my parents already told me all this:
1) I will not be getting a car for my birthday
2) I will not receive any type of loan from my parents for the car.
3) I can't get a car my mom doesn't like, which is basically Honda's and other small vehicles. I want a truck or SUV anyway.

My '89 Silverado is only mine until I can afford a car. It will never be in my name. Dad said he won't ever sell it, but I have a feeling it will crap out soon.

my dad has 4 trucks, plus my ma's mini van, so i dont have a problem really on getting a car. i disagree that if you buy it with your own money you will respect it alot more, becuz i would respect every car i own, wether its given to me or not, who treats cars badly? (unless they are any gm or crysler products, lol)

All right, let's bring some luxury to the list:

1.)2008 Land Rover Range Rover Supercharged

2.) Mercedes Benz S65 AMG

Currently I have a 1997 Ford Escort LX. In the summer I am getting my mom's 1999 Honda CR-V.

Buying it off them is fine, I was gonna possibly buy the GMC off mine. When parents eventually goto get a new car, I'll buy it off them to keep it in the family. Just love these **** little things

Until anyone of you actually purchase a car, you don't know the difference in it. I respect the GMC a lot as my parents car. But I baby the CST/10 and the Slowbird... Well, mainly because the slowbird is a high-mileage POS ready to grenade some parts the moment I go WOT It's a totally different thing. I keep the GMC nice. But I detail the Slowbird, and keep working to get it running decently smooth (all problems will be gone once I get it on a lift, and replace the oil pan too). And rebuilding the CST/10, thats just about my favorite thing ever.

Like, baby sitting someone's kids. Sure, you take care of them very well (if you want to get paid). But you won't take care of them anywhere near as good as your own children.

Yeah, dad's been talking about buying mom a new burban or tahoe. This trooper has racked up around 180K miles so far, and dad thinks it will give out soon. Mom wants to keep it, since it has barn style doors, and you can't get them anymore.

Mom said if she's getting a new car, she wants a 300C, but dad says they're sh*t.

(Speaking of mom, the only reason I'm online is becuase she's as a party and I'm using her laptop. Texan, I've been getting the same error as you, you can't do anything about it. Time to save up for a new computer.)
