Default ebay conspiracy?

ive been on ebay a lot lately bidding on larger scale rc's. Something I noticed was that there was always a bidder with a name similar to this (r***h) or (4***9). Theres always just one letter or number and three asterisks and another letter or number. It just seems kinda odd to me. Everything I've wanted to bid on has a person with a name like that that bid on the item. It just seems too weird to be a coincidence to me. Anyone else notice this?

I think that during active bidding the high bidders name can be kept private. I would imagine this is to keep you from contacting the high bidder.

ya its a new privacy feature, only the person and the person whose item there bidding on can see who they are, for protection reasons. I know this cuz my uncle has a fairlylarge ebay storre i help with all the time

I think it's automated bots to bump up the price to what the seller wanted to get.
Or not...because I always get out-bid by those things/people.

Well as far as the name display goes no matter what you name is, say for example it is "Smoke&Mirrors", it will show up to other people as "S***S". It is part of a new privacy agreement - the first letter/number followed by 3 asterisks and the last number/letter. I was suspicious too at first.

Ohhh okay....I kept thinking what the heck?! The first thing that popped to my mind was that ebay was sending out bid bots like blt said lol. I was getting pretty ****ed too because the thing I wanted to buy went really high and I thought it was ebay doing that. Thanks for the answers!
