I am sorry. I haven't posted. I have school and other things to do. No one is correct. The answer: The power went out in the hospital. WHich means the elevator stops. The oxygen machine the woman is on stops because it is run by electricty. (the hospital has a generator, i know, but it is a riddle.)

We'll give Lancer_Man 24 hours to post a new riddle, or else someone else can post one.
The next person to post can post a new riddle, when the time comes.

There are two poles, 100 feet tall each.

A rope, 150 feet long, is stretced between them so it is raised 25 feet off the ground.

How close together are the poles?

that made no sense xcl...

there is not enough info, you don't say how high the rope is tied onto the poles.

Exactly.
But he said stretched, which to mean means theres no slack.
So if the rope is 25 foot of the ground, its like that all the way across, so its 150 foot apart.

Or, you are just too incompetent to figure it out without me spelling it out for you...

That help at all? And nobody is right yet.

And, remember, the rope is 150 feet long and attached to the top of both poles.

Let d = distance between the poles
assume the rope form a triangle between the poles
It dips down 75 ft in the middle
so half of the rope (75ft) hangs down 75 ft

I get stuck here...There was another problem like this floating around...

You switched the numbers making the question impossible...
